Since you are standing in the festival area, I think this is a left-over of it.

Wow, that's new.. I gotta log in and seeeeee

edit: Bleh, I don't have those. Looks like a neat feature, but why is it enabled only when you aren't in town?

edit+: Went to do an Instructor Ng-course at the Monastary Outlook, and now I see the icons too. One pointing out where the Henchmen are, and another pointing out the storage. Nothing for merchants tho. Some feature that isn't finished/patched in globally yet?

edit++: not festival-area-proof-foo

I noticed that too on my mesmer. Strange, since you can't actually reach the "Storage" and "Henchmen" while in the dojo.

That would have been nice feature for the newbies when in their first town. But I suppose they should have gone and added those markers to every town then.

I'd think that it'd be pretty much automatic, just center the icons according to the location of the NPCs. Henchies and storage agents are pretty much in one spot in every map, after all. Depends on the Devs and how easy would implementing stuff like that be. Looks like they are static markers now, since they only appear in one zone, and that zone doesn't even have those NPCs in it.

hmmm Interesting, it seems to be part of a soon to be added in feature maybe? I hope that is the case as this would be useful for everyone. Sometimes remembering the location of the henchies and Storage is a pain.

Hate having to run about with CTRL and ALT held down to find them both.

This would be an excellent update... but if the people that ask those questions are too stupid to hold down the Alt button, what makes you think they can read a map?

It's not necessarily a too stupid thing. Sometimes when you're in a big city like Droknars Forge, you can easily be out of range of Storage while at, say the Merchant. First time I was there, I walked around for at least 5 minutes holding ALT looking for the Xunlai.

This update would most definately kick ass. Bring it, Anet!

yeah i think it would be a handy update too. I mean why not it only helps. A friend of mine was in Asclaon (then comes the question as to if prophices will get this too but lets not go there ) and couldn't find armor, also was unaware that there was such things a material trader...

so yeah mainly for newbies but i'm sure like someone posted above if i was in a bigger city i'd probably just open my mini map to get a general idea of how everything is set up.

Personally I think it would be a bad idea, it would just clutter up the map with all of those NPC's. That's what alt is for, and you will learn where things are after a very short time. And if youre sick of telling people where npc's are, then just ignore them if they ask, not that hard.

Aren't you a helpful individual?

I still get disoriented in big cities, like Droknar's, after a year. And minimap doesn't have that much use in cities anyways, so I wouldn't find additional icons "cluttering" it up.

The problem with alt is that it only goes so far and if you try to move your mouse over them, it clutters up with idiotic people.

Yeah, thats really annoying. When pressing ALT, or CTRL for that matter, the names shouldn't jump around so much. It's SO annoying trying to click that one name you're looking for, when it jumps all over your screen...
*NO I didn't want YOU in my party, I'm trying to click on Talon overthere!! AARGH*

Goodness... please tell me why you think this is a bad idea? How can this be in anyway a bad idea?

ALT is handy for close range, but map icons would do wonders if massive cities like K-Centre.

Oh and I like helping newbies if are lost, maybe you should try being nice and maybe the game will be a little less annoying and a lot more rewarding

I think it's a good idea, but for people like Titan that like a "clean" map maybe you could make it to where these symbols/text only appear when you press alt down as well?

It could be helpful to newbies, but it's probably just clutter to everybody else. Seriously, once you've found it, how often do you forget where the Xunlai/henchmen are? :/ Sounds like a forthcoming update for people who couldn't find their ass with both hands and a map...

I'm really surprized by this comment, and others made by people in this tread? Is it Nation "Be rude on the GWG Forums Week"?

I'm sure if they added this in it be toggle, and again I'm sure the map would most likely only show the Henchmen and storage location, and maybe the merchant NPC, not everything!

I've been playing both GW games since release, and I sometimes forget where the storage is.

I'll never understand why people complain about anything added to this game?

How would this update (If it is added) be a bad thing? lol

I have only one advice for these people; Press [Alt] and look around. That way I might not have given him a fish, but I learned him how to catch one

^ As it's been mentioned, I don't see how this is a bad thing. It's really not going to be that much clutter. Holding down ALT only works when close to what your looking for, and big towns like K-Center have largely repeating landscapes. It's very easy to spend a frustrating minute trying to get your bearings. I'd don't spend much time in town, so why would I have every location of every storage and merchant memorized? Again, I really don't see why people are shooting down the idea. Never look at improved or additional content with disdain.

I would love to have those locations shown on the map with the ability of clicking the spot to make your character walk there.

simple, for the people that think it clutters up their map, allow a tick-box in the UI editor to turn it off, like the helpful hints tipbox. it is a good idea...

Exactly. More GUI options are always a good thing. Especially if you can turn them on and off. Then, everyone's happy, even the grumpy ones like Eudas and titan0987.

Oh leave off Eudas and titan. Y'all act like you play the game solely to help new players, and I'm not buying it. Yeah sure, you can come on a forum and pretend to be a saint, and put down people who don't share your enlightened opinion, because no one can verify your in-game actions one way or another...but does it really matter that much?
