Finally, many weapons could be a lot lot better if they were resized to proper sizes or had their textures reworked to not look fricking low res and low budget.

They're not skins, they're models.
A skin is the texture wrapped around the model.
And this is technical fact.
Sorry about that, it's just a personal bugbear of mine in much the same way that people trying to sell "Godly" weapons are idiots.
Anyway, the good:
Katana. Clean, simple, pointy and sharp. What more do you want from a sword?
The bad:
Canthan Cleaver axes. They would look fantastic if they were 2-3 times the size they are now!
The ugly:
Controversially I'm going to say Exalted Aegis. It's too busy, and details are hard to make out, plus the "wings" are impractical. Sell it to some pleb willing to pay stupid money for it and get yourself a Bronze Shield with identical stats from Leviathan Pits or Vasberg Arnory. Now that's a proper shield.

Good: Amber/Jede staffs, forbidden staffs aren't bad either.
Bad: Celestial staffs, don't particularly like them.
Ugly: Amber/Jade wands.

My opinion...
Good: phoenix blade, runic axe, chaos axe, zodaic sheild (like the shape),serpent axe, and crystalline....im alone on that i guess but w/e i like it
Bad: daggers in general... lol, gothic axes, amber/jade stuff, dwarven axe
Ugly: all plagueborn items, halo/archaic/gemstone axes, mammoth axe, sickles, most things zodiac/celestial, sephis axe

Platinum Blade. I found one during the preview event and have loved the skin ever since.
Bad
Anything thats plagueborn. I mean seriously who wants a weapon with rotting flesh hanging of it.
Ugly
Zodiac Hammer is the worst. It looks like an over sized piece of rock candy.

Good: Razorstone(sephi skin axe), Plauge born sword(basically axe, shield, sword,hammer, and focus item) Rajazan's Fervor, Though already mentioned, plaugeborn sheild. Also, tribal axe for sheer length and that primal feeling ti gives off ^_^.
Bad: Anything that relaates to staff/wand, also daggers, bow, and most axes. Shiros sword, i would think for a monumental warrior/assassin.. he would have a better looking weapon. Most hammers are pretty bad.
Ugly: Crystalline, zodiac, In general for being overated. Gotic for being plain as hell. Oni blade, vertbreakers, katana, cleaver, sai.

It's neither models NOR skins. Transparency, Particle Effects, Reflection Maps, Shaders (well, not really in Guildwars)... all of which can alter the look of a weapon completely. Imagine the FDS Model without it's particles... d'uh. So it is absolutely okay to say "Skin" as much as it is okay to say "Model".
Both are just parts of the whole weapon. So if you want to be overexact about how to call it, weapon or item would be more appropiate.

Good : Platinum Blade, Plagueborn stuff (reminds me of Soul Edge in it's different forms), Gothic Shield, Mammoth Axe, Wayward Wand, Dragoncrest Axe, Broadsword, Strongroot's Shelter.
Bad : Jade stuff (especially the axe), Straw effigy.
Ugly : Golden Pillar (I cried about this. The name makes it sound like a sweet staff, but it's a lumpy wand), Holy Branch.
I'm torn when it comes to Celestial and Zodiac weapons. Sometimes I think they look awful, other times they look amazing. Currently have a Celestial shield I switch to that I kind of like, but not a great amount.

Good : Brute Sword, Serpent Axe, Dwarven Axe, Crude Shield, Dead Bow, Sephis Axe, old sickle, Mursaat Hammer, Mursaat Horn, Hand Axe. In fact ALL undead weapons...
Bad : Flesh Horn, Dragon Horn, Chaos Axe, Flamberge, Long Sword

I'll post about Bows, since the original post was about melee weapons.
The good: Recurve skin. And any bow that has the recurve skin, like Drago's Flatbow (especially that because of size). Naga stlye is ok.
The bad: Most would say something like Flatbow skin (the wooden plain one), but that skin is ok to me. I don't like Bramble skins, or plain shortbow skins (too small on the shortbow).
The Ugly: I'd say Storm bows, but most other bows in general are too thin and such too.

gotta love that soul edge.. its the same reason i like the plagueborn stuff... i think its bada$$ but would love to see blood gush out or make a fleshy sound when u hit someone with it...

I use mostly swords, so that's what I'll list...
Good: Broadsword, Wingblade Sword, Gothic Sword, Fellblade, Shadow Blade, Oni Blade, Spatha (don't really know why I like the Spatha...I just do...), Zodiac Sword
Bad: Celestial Sword, Dusk Blade, Wicked Blade, FDS/IDS, Plagueborn Sword, Crenellated Sword
Ugly: Vertebreaker

I find what is good or bad highly dependant on what your armor appearance is. Fellblades look AWESOME with a set of black dyed FOW armor. Crenulated swords look a strange on the FOW, but looks awsome on Knights, maybe even 15k Silver Kurzick.
Dark Armor(which most people have)
Good: Fellblade, Gothic Weapons, IDS(some people think its stupid in common, but who the hell doesnt like a flaming stick?), Oni Blade. Kannaxi's Axe.
Bad: Crenellated Sword, Celestial Weapons(with the exception of the bow), Zodiac
Ugly: Plaugeborn
Shiney Armor
Good: Longsword, Wingblade, Crenulated Sword, Winged Aegis

Good: Wicked Blade, Ironwing Bow, Echovald Shield, Diamond Aegis, Gothic axe
Bad: Kanaxai's Axe (would be awesome if it wasn't so tiny), also most of the bows and swords are pretty lame.
Ugly: Celestial/Zodiac crap. They look like the art department ran out of time and just made some half-assed drawings, put some sparklies on them, and hoped no one would notice.

Good: Fellblades, Icy/Fiery dragon swords, Emblazoned defender's.
Bad: Zodiac stuff (Look like flashy power-ranger toy's)
Ugly: I'd have to say ebossed aegis and runar's brimstone staff. (I use this on my air ele, and it looks like an old street lamp with a dodgy bulb... Could use a better model)
