Salvaging Mods

When you ID an item and unlock mutliple mods, is there anyway to choose which one you will salvage?

I've found weapons with a junk mod and then a really nice one, and used my expert salvage kit on them and end up with only the junk mod, and it's very annoying. So is there anyway to choose or perhaps get both from a weapon?

Pray to whatever gods you worship, light candles, rub a tunafish sandwich under your arms - do whatever you feel will increase your chances. None of it works. hehehehe

*Unless you REALLY need the wooden planks - then you'll get the mod.
