How to get Windborne Speed

I'm trying to get to Droknar's Forge to buy Windborne Speed, since it doesn't seem to be available anywhere else. I deduced fairly rapidly that the level 10 henchies and the journey south from Beacon's Perch was NEVER going to end well. I refuse to pay 2k for someone to claim that they can run me down there and for it to turn out to be a complete scam...

I heard I could get there from the Crystal Desert so I found my way to the Amnoon Oasis and have been exploring the desert but cannot work out how to get up to the Forge, can anyone help?

well its a quest "A Belated Betrothal" not sure where it is at though somewhere either in the desert, although i thought it was somewhere in the oasis, i just got the run to the forge. To get to the forge the normal way you have to ascend then do "the dragon's lair" it's the mission where at the end you get to fight glint, once you finish that you get to the forge.

in the desert there are 3 towns... (missions) thirsty river, elona reach and dunes of despair. After that go to augury rock and fight ur clone get ascended. You go to another mission(DRAGON LAIR) kill glint. And you are into the shiverpeaks. You won't get scammed on ur drok run. It is safe i'd say easiest way to get there.

I just got my Canthan ele run (seriously, 2k is MUCH better than the 10k it used to be XD) to Droks. I'm not ashamed of it.
And doing the storyline way to get to the Forge is slightly longer, but still doable (really, I just beat my doppleganger with my level 10 Necro... now he's level 16 and in Dragon's Lair and I'm gonna need guildees to party with me since nobody else will).

Xx Invictus xX is somewhat correct. Beat the three mission quests and you get sent to Augry Rock (you get sent there after each successful completion of each mission). Defeat your doppleganger and ascend to Dragon's Lair. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KILL GLINT! All you have to do i defeat the 6 facets of Glint. She is a friendly old dragon that gives helpful advise. You must defeat her if you want the bonus for the mission. She gives you the way out if you want. If you are defeated by her, you still get the completion of the mission (but no bonus).

After that mission, you are transported to Droknar's Forge.

Happily I have found my way to Augry Rock so I might try that at some point - but can anyone tell me, I'm not quite sure, can I use Windborne Speed on myself as well as other players. It doesn't seem to say anywhere...

You could use 1k of Balthazar's Faction to unlock it, and every skill trader would have it available for your pve character to buy.

YEESSSS - At LAST - After all my years of searching...The Cave of Wonders... Urm, well, Windborne Speed anyway....

Sorry - I missed Kirby's entry - I didn't realise Balthazar's faction would allow you to do that - maybe I'll try it with something else to test it out...

I decided in the end to mission my way to Droknar's Forge....so I did. And what's with all that doppleganger crap...? That was EASY! Is it supposed to be that easy to kill yourself?

Anyway - after talking with the dragon I was UBER-gleeful when I found myself deposited at Droknar's Forge. As soon as I got it, I ran my brother's new character from the Marketplace to Kaineng Centre...I ran past the afflicted...I was so damn quick they didn't hit me once.....It was fun using it on my brother's pet tiger though - 'bouncy-bouncy'!...

Windborne Speed...."Zoom Zoom" !!

Yeah didn't even realise this spell wasn't available in Cantha until yesterday. Nice find Beaver,...Beaver? That's strange, she was just here!

I just wanted to clarify, in case other canthan-born characters read this thread, that Kirby is correct in saying that you can unlock a skill with 1000 Balthazar faction, and then buy it at any skill trader, but as I found out last night, when I experimented with Blackout for my Mesmer, if you unlock a prophecies-based skill with a Priest of Balthazar, you have to go to a skills vendor in Tyria to purchase it. I'd imagine this is the same with Cantha?

Anyway - I didn't realise that and eventually it clicked! Thanks to everyone who helped in this thread...
