If I have a canthan character, can I get any skill quests in Tyria?
Also, is there any more skill quests for a canthan character other than those in Shing Jea island?

Thank you in advance.

No skill quests in Cantha.
As for Canthan characters going to Tyria, from what I've observed you can do some of the LA quests, all of the quests you get after LA and none of the quests pre-LA.

Its another money scam by Anet :P

BUY GW: P IF YOU WANT TO GET SKILLS FOR FREE!

Otherwise, you get to shove out 50g-1k per for ANY skill :/
Quite sad, really. No Canthan skill quests except for the couple on the island.

You can get some of the quests from Lions Arch and on. After doing Canthan quests you might be surprised just how tawdry some of these quests end up feeling. I don't know how much of Cantha you have explored past Shing Jea, but the quests into Cantha give excellent xp (which equates into more skill points faster to get skills with) and much more money. I make more money and xp in Cantha than I did wandering around Kryta or Maguuma for 300xp quests that gave me 1 or 2 skills I might or might not use. The thing about getting good experience and gold and buying the skills is that you get to choose the skills you want instead of having them chosen for you and still having to purchase the ones you want.

A couple other advantages to hunting and advancing in Cantha:
-- the drops are much much better along with the gold drops
-- bosses have a chance of dropping a green and bosses are everywhere
-- elites are much easier to cap and are available once you get to the mainland whereas in Tyria you have to wait until the desert to get an elite and South Shiverpeaks to have access to several.
-- When you start into Kurzick and Luxon territory the quests also give you faction (in addition to xp and gold) which you can redeem for amber (Kurzick) at 900g - 1k each making you more money to buy skills or whatever else with.

I make tons more money in gold, dyes, and drops in Cantha than I do in Tyria with the exception of maybe Fire Islands or Sorrows Furnace. But overall Cantha pays really good.

So I wouldn't conjecture that this is a scam by ANet at all. In fact I find it to be a nice improvement over hunting in Tyria. It's just a different way of thinking and approach to getting your skills.

It seems like it really just depends on how you look at it. In Cantha, you have to buy your skills, which some would say is worse, but then they don't take into account that you also get gold and such a lot more in Cantha (at least I seem to). And then others would look at it and say, well, even if you get more gold and such, you still HAVE to buy the skills, and they would say the tyria skills acquiring way is better.

Its not really a scam to get you to buy prophecies unless you look at it that way really. To everyone that doesn't look at it that way, it's just a new way to acquire skills.

And to answer to the original topic, yes you can do quests in tyria to get skills with a Canthan born character, but you can only do quests from kryta on with Canthan born characters. If you go back to places like ascalon looking for quests, you wont find any...

Of course if you want certain non-core Prophecies skills then going to at least Fishermans Haven is a must.
