Introduction

first of all i'm not a good guide writer as you will see, so it's normal if you don't understand what i'm trying to say at some parts (like now)

So i'm going to tell you how to solo smite run with ranger

Atribudes

expertise: 14 or 15
wildernes survival: 16


Build

flame trap
dust trap
spike trap [e]
barbed trap
serpent's Q.
winnowing
dodge
zojun's haste

(improve build, requires R/A)

flame trap
dust trap
spike trap
barbed trap
serpent's Q.
natural stride
dash

it's basicly the same but it lets you run constant and you get beter survival abilities when luring smites

equipment
Weapons: Any +15 nrg staff with hp mod on it or "trapper's staff" and longbow

armor: Full druid, WS mask, superios WS, major or superior expertise, superior vigor if you can get one


trapping

you lay down traps at this order: flame (SQ), dust, spike, barb, flame, spike, brb, dust, flame (SQ ends) spike, brb, flame (SQ again), dust, spike, brb or flame (stop trapping here), dust or brb.


trap timing

the reson why i got flame trap at first skill slot is simple, if you use serpents Q at this point you should be able to lay 1 extra trap what will save you those precious seconds which you will need later


Getting out from the labyrinth

as soon as you get to uw use dodge, get the quest and run back to the starting point. yes you have to take the quest! We are not going to kill any of aatxes because it would require almost 40 traps to kill one!

so Grasping Darknesses should spawn, go to the left edge (middle is also fine) of the plate where you started, use winnowing and start trapping, 15 traps should be enought. When you see those darknesses at top of the stairs with aatxes, hit dodge and go aggro them. don't worry about ataxes, because you are faster than them, they don't follow you, only darkns. will follow. get them to the traps and let them die!

now move on the first step of right stairs and repeat traps for middle and right darkns. group (or if you are crazy you can take them both at same time)

note: sometimes right group gets stuck to ataxe, set traps as normal, hit dodge and go get em and watch out for the ataxes

So you should have killed all those darkns. and stone door to ice wastes should be open.
now wait that you see ataxes there.
wait that they leave, hit serpent's Q. and right after that Dodge (dodge should recharge 33% faster) run trought the door what leads to ice wastes and when dodge is nearly ending use zojun's haste and after that dodge. if you aggro darkns. group don't worry because they don't follow you far from stairs.

so now should have got past the aatxes, up the stairs and redy to beat some smites' butts!


Ice wastes

so now you are at narrow road between ataxes and the first group of smites.
you got 2 options now. 1. you can trap if you think you got enought room for that or... 2. run past the smites and trap from other side

so how do you trap smites: lay down winnowing, lay 16 or 17 traps (if you timed SQ correctly and got that extra flame trap). run to the smites, gather them to 1 big pile, lead them to spirit, hit dodge at this point and watch how they die

You will only have to kill 2 groups of coldfire nights!


1st group: This is the hardest, you will see 2-3 CFN patrol moving circle. So you have to trap this area where they move (look the place from minimap). you should get enought time to lay 9 traps but it isn't enought, move back to the hill where you came, lay 2-4 more traps and let them come. If they didn't die run and try again!

if you killed them you are redy to move on. down there should be 3-4 groups of smites left, you can easily aggro those 3 groups at right easily (1 group at time still) but 1 groups is in middle of CFN groups so you probably want to use your bow

so now you have killed all smites from this area... run up the hill what is next to the road where you came from, you should see 1 new smite group and CFN group which is patrolling the road by moving like this <--------> (this is the 2nd CFN group what you will kill)

take out the smite group first using the same method with what you killed the last smite groups.


2nd CFN group: this is easy, wait until you see them right front of you, drop coin and start laying trap as much as you can before they come back hit them with you longbow and lead to traps

there is 1 groups of smites at left, and another group at right (or at another side of the lake). take care of left group first and then from the right
if you are lucky you there should be a chest

you will see another pack of CFN which will also move <------>
wait at near the chest (chest is usualy at very right on narrow road near the lake) that CFN group moves to left and move to the route at right

then you see last 2 groups of smites and 2 groups of CFNs

set winnowing (but don't place it where CFNs move d'oh). lay 16 traps. wait until right CFN group comes down and start climbing back, follow them so you can aggro 2nd last smite group and shoot from the hill last smite group and lead them to the traps!

congratulations you just soloed smites with a ranger!

Some notes

if you fail to kill enemy group and run away, they might get "angry" to you. when this happens and you are not even near aggroing them they act like you aggroed them.

how long it takes: 30 mins or more... depens on how many mistakes you do

quite impressive how u get out of the labirinth without doing anything to the aaxte's úre making a exploit of the movement speed of the creatures.

woah, that looks like fun. i will try it as soon as Europe gets favor again xD i just have a felling i will mess-up big time at running out of the labiranth. but will the Aatxe's stop aggro if i run up to the stairs whioch lead to the smites?

they will follow you little bit after stairs, but most of the times they will stop before you reach smites

k... i added small video, it's speed up and only from begining, it just got too laggy when i got to the ice wastes, and the quality isn't the best. ^^

Works fine.

Made it to Smites first time in. (and killed 2 groups of smites)

Took a few more times to learn where to trap and such with the spawns around there.

Zojun's Haste = Factions. Zojun's Haste is identical to Dodge, so you can bring Dodge instead.

You can use Natural Stride (7sec) instead of Zojun's Haste.

Natural Stride is 33% speed increase , but for not to long, so i am wondering if u can replace zojuns haste for natural stride.. maybe the recharge time isnt good dont know just wondering.

any flatbow/longbow, a +energy staff, and possibly an assortment of masks so you can get ideal values on your atts.

I prefer to run 16 expertise/15 wilderness survival b/c that makes Trapper's Speed last 21 seconds (20 second recharge). At that point it becomes more effective than SQ.

For some reason I was doing this right when I entered from ToA, but from the factions area I kept messing up.

What if you replaced Winnowing with Quickening Zephyr?
Not to recharge traps faster but to enable a continuous SQ. (At 16 Wilderness Survival: SQ Duration 31 sec, Recharge 45 sec [-33% = 30 sec]).

In theory you could cast QZ then SQ, then walk out of range of QZ and commence trapping with a constant recharge bonus from SQ.

I may be wrong, but I would think that the bonus from putting down 2 or 3 more traps would outweigh Winnowing.

i'm not sure... might get too energy hevy, +you can only recherge 1 of those skills faster... if you hit SQ before QZ the QZ will recharge faster but SQ doesn't and vici versa.

and winnowing is just to gather enemies near the traps, it could be any long time ritual

1 question, i thought that the only trap that stacks is Dust trap, none other stack, ive done tests etc, and dust trap goes of however manytimes u put it down, but the rest dont.

they all stack, it's just easier to see with dust trap when you can see the dmg numbers (you can test it this way, go to the droks and in troll cave. lay down barbed, spike, flame and then dust traps as many as you can. next time lay down barbed, spike, flame and dust traps as many as you can, and see which way they die faster)

and kisame, i'm sorry but i cannot get video where i'm killing the smites. It just gets so darn laggy. but you should lay your traps almost as soon as you see them on your radar.
