Question about dual farming FoW

Ok, my friend was showing me a bit how to solo FoW and we went through the run in about 30-35 min and he said it usually takes him about an hour. And the thing is, it was a 6 shard run. We each got 3, so here's my question.

Are you more likely to get shard (I've even seen that dual UW gets more ecto than solo) with two people than one? It doesn't really make sense, but it seems like you get more when you dual farm.

On average, killing the same number of enemies will net your party the same number of shards total. However, as you increase the party size, you will receive less drops since those drops are divided up among your entire party.

So you're saying that if one of us had soloed that, we would have still have had a 6 shard drop?

I'm also asking if you guys think it's logical to do this, since you can go through it twice in the time it would take to solo it once.
