Okay, I have tried to keep this a secret among guildies and the like, and i have decided to spill the beans on one of the hearty assasin builds ( shadow form doesnt count xD)

A/Me

16 Shadow
12 Illusion Magic
3 Inspiration -or- where ever you like

Illusionary Weaponry {e}
Illusion of Weakness
Conjure Phatasm
Dark Escape
Deaths Charge
Shadow Refuge
Heart of Shadow
-whatever-
Res.

Sometimes I switch around skills with Physical Resistance and Elemental Resistance.

Now.... The core of this build are two skills.....

Dark Escape
For 5...13 seconds, you move 25% faster and take half damage. Dark escape ends if you successfully hit with an attack.

-and-

Illusionary Weaponry
For 30 seconds, you deal no damage in melee, but whenever you attack in melee, target foe takes 8-34 damage.

Everytime I think about these 2 skills i feel like something inside me has... awakened...

It's these skills which form the core of the defence, and the core of the offence. Since technically while under the enchantment of Illusionary Weaponry your not landing any attacks, therefore you can never "successfully" hit your opponent which means you can stay in Dark Escape while running down your oppenent, doing 34 damage each attack... no matter what.... the aim is also to try be in Shadow Refuge for as long as possible, constantly, that means you shouldnt go too low on health if the battle increases intensity. When Dark Escape ends it is best to go on defensive, by either bringing a "resistance skill" from the Mesmer-Inspiration group -Or- by constantly using Heart Of Shadow. When the time comes that your barely holding on to your life by a thread, something most assasins are familiar with... Illusion of Weakness is your little 200~ hp pick-me-up.

here is my build, i have been refining it constantly. (i know about the no increased speed thingy..)

please feel free to comment on my build.

Thanks for letting me share my secret

I am impressed by the ingeniosity of this build - the combinaison of Dark Escape and Illusionary Weapon but at the same time I wonder if it wouldn't be better with a Me/A instead. Having 16 shadow makes you gain 3 secs (16 secs for 30 sec recharge) compared to a player with 12. Since you rely on Me skills to deal damage, wouldn't 16 illusion be better? But this is just a thought, I have tried none of the 2 builds.

Yeah, I went Me/A for the damage.

looks good, but i would also sugest Me/A - not so much because you are useing more mes skills then sin as stated above, but for the extra energy and fast casting. sin armor is already inline with caster armor, i run a E/A as a sin and haven't noticed any difference in the dmg it takes compared to my sin primary. with only 25-30 e as a sin, you can blow all your energy with just dark escape, illusionary weapon, and one refuge.

Thanks for the input, I have never seen that build before, and I run mine the way I do for the durabitiy of it, I discovered it 4 weeks ago, and have run it ever since.

The thing i focus on with my build, is to outlast, and constantly be on the opponent. although me/a would have its upsides, it definately has its downsides too.

thank you for the input, please continue to post your comments

When my friend and I were discussing GvG builds with an assassin, I noticed Dark Escape in his build and wondered if it would work well with IW.

Then we started debating whether or not it was a good stance to use with IW. In the end, we both decided that every IW mes should have Flurry and that Dark Escape does bring on the defense but doesn't offer much for offense.

Yep, pointless speculation to the max .

yeah, i like defence more than offence, as in ra i can stand the abuse of a warrior for quite a while until he realises he is at 1/4 health and runs away..

I rolled my eyes when I saw the start of this thread b/c I thought this was another stupid IW Me/A build with double strikes. GJ with this. ...I still think double strikes should only work if you *hit* something (otherwise it's really more of a double"swing").

double strikes arent an important part of this build, they are nice when it happens, but overall... they dont play much of a part in this build

not to mention heart of shadow

and the fact that they buffed IW with a shorter recharge time, if you do somehow manage to get shattered you can kite around for a little while while pressuring people with conjure phantasm.

This is actually a farily old build. I tried it a few weeks after faction came out.
Its a decent build, but IMO i find it less effective than a normal dagger assassin.
good job refining it though.

Is IW available to faction players? At a different fan site it doesnt list IW as a skill you can obtain from the first 12 missions on Cantha but it does list a location for prophecies players. If it is available to faction players, where can i get it because this sounds like such a great build!
