Assasins are like Rangers. They really dont need a secondary class because you already have to spend attribute points into 3 attributes to be effective. Might as well be Mo so you can rez.

Self rez would be wonderful nice ole man burbon

I absolutely agree that you'll want to have the assassin focusing on
1. Weapon Attribute
2. Critical Strikes
3. Either Shadow (defensive) or Deadly (offensive)

But the weapon doesn't have to be daggers.

A warrior secondary fits in pretty well if you want to try sword/axe + shield. And you'll get access to adrenal skills to give your energy pool a break. And you have the option of foregoing Shadow / Deadly and going into Tactics instead.

The most popular rationale behind going Assassin/Warrior is to maximize critical hits and combine that with the aoe attacks of Axes (or Hundred Blades in swords)

you don't have to have only 3 attribs, i run 2 very successfull sins, one with 4 attribs, and one with 5 attribs. limiting yourself to 3 attribs let's you get impresive stat's, but severly limit's what skills and what stragedy you can use. you only need enough pt's in an attrib for the skills you're useing to be effective, you don't need to have everything maxed.

as for secondaries there are a few considerations of how you want to play.

Monk is probly the most tempting, and the most dangerious (too you). resist the urge to pile yourself up with heals and trying to tank.. - if you go this route do it for condition removal and the hard res.

Necro is a popular choice, mainly for plegue touch, but i'd also look at bringing a hex to help you deal dmg besides just your spike. - my A/n carries mark of pain hex for aoe dmg from my attacks, defile flesh to give me a 120 health boost, and plegue touch.

Warrior - IMO is a waste, trying to use war wepons and addrenlyn skills are a recipie for disaster - for you. you have to stand around auto swinging to charge up those attacks, and while auto singing a sward, hamer, or ax will do alot more dmg then autoswinging daggers - the problem of your low arrmor and low health means you can't stand around tradeing punch's. - there are usefull skills such as stances, healing sig and so on - none of which will be much better then what the sin has in it's arsonal.

EL - if you're running a sane sin build (i.e. focusing on avoiding dmg, and not redicusly large combo's) you won't be able to drop a target with just your combo. often times the sin's main job is to spike most of the dmg away to allow your casters to finish your target off for you.. with el you can bring along fireball or something, teleport away after your combo is done then throw your own finisher. - i actually recomend going E/A for this combination so you're not limited by the sin's low energy. - i have a E/A build up in the sticky that works well for me.

Me - is another class that you can rely on for range finisher skills, and loaded with hex's that you can use to reduce your enemies chance to return your attacks. archane echo could be usefull for doubleing up the dmg you do with your dual attack, and with the sins ability to dish out and stack alot of conditions quickly epidemic would prove usefull in crowded area's. - high energy skills here also, so consider Me/A.

Ranger - has some usefull stuff. dodge stance will make you as nimble as any touch ranger, while bows and arrow prep skills will afford you the ability to run in throw your spike, teleport back by your casters and finish the assult with ranged attacks.

all in all , each secondary has very usefull skills that will make you a way better killing machine, and each combination of them is going to net you many avenues of attack. it just boils down to reconiseing what eachone can offer you, and which one tickels your fancey.

Warrior secondary is not a waste. Two skills: "Watch Yourself" and Wild Blow, can be made useful to assassin without any attribute point. I find Watch Yourself very useful because it is a shout, req only 4 adrenaline, and can be used anytime in the middle of your combo to boost your (and your adjacent teammates) defense by 20 for 5~6 seconds.

/w is a good thing, because if your running a critical defence build you can hit wild blow for a crit hit to keep it going.

Monk isn't bad. If you're really desperate to get a group going, just dump your stats into Healing/Protection and go find a group.

I'm partial to A/Me for distortion for general PvE play, when Shock isn't required.

Assassin is a wonderful class that match well with nearly all professions. just focuz in assassin skill and take avantage from skill of secondary prof to do a lot of different thing (interupt, conditions, spike, support.....) just be creative

It's hard to add anything useful to the excellent advice already given. Just a couple of suggestions.

1. A/R can turn you into a Critical Barrage Archer, which is very useful in PvE and a lot of fun if you add a pet. You can charm level 15 dire tigers and elder tigers that are not much trouble to level up. You can even charm a level 20 elder blue crab at the beginning of the Boreas mission that requires no leveling at all to be ready to go.

2. Whatever secondary you choose, for solo with henchies in PvE the longbow is your friend! Longbows requiring no attribute will hit up to 8-11, but the damage is not the point. The longbow gives you a good way to get the henchies to aggro whatever seems best, and you the leisure and the time to select your target and do what you do best!

I tend to use A/Mo for a hard rez and nothing else...It's not that I see a hard rez as a reason to take a secondary, but I use all assassin skills and a res signet, so why not be able to res more than once (until we kill a boss etc)?

Your secondary as an assassin really doesn't matter, just promise me that you won't try to tank.

EDIT: @Old Man Bourbon, that self rez would be under /rt ... XD (I win)
