Best Screen recorder?

Dunno if this is in the right forum or thread but, anyone know a good screen recorder for recoring things for guides to videos ,and such?

You could try Fraps. If you aren't registered (which requires a fee), you can only record up to 30 seconds of footage. It also shows your FPS in-game. The free version is unlimited.

I just wish it recorded desktop footage...

Be warned: If you do not have a good CPU, it will KILL your FPS.

I have a good CPU (AMD 4200+ X2), and an x1800xt 512mb, and 2 gigs of RAM...In GW with all settings on high @ 1920*1200, I get 7 FPS...

Same specs at 1280*1024 gets me well over 30 fps...
