Missing thread

I posted a thread today between 3:30 and 5:00 pm ESt......I did a search on the site and it is not there. This is the second time this has happened to me. Do mods just close threads etc or if the thread is in the wrong place shouldnt I atleast get a PM explaining what I did wrong? I really enjoy this site but not sure if someone is just messing with me or what. Thanks
