What is going on?

After the recent updates (Friday July 14th), many places have been refusing to load.

Several cases I know of are:
Arborstone (my necro is now stuck there)
Zos Shivros Channel
Character creation screen (yes even this won't load)

My advice for now is to avoid these areas. Also would people please post other places doing this, so that we know to avoid them.


This is a huge bug, it can completely halt someone's gameplay, as they become unable to play on that character, or unable to make a new one.

I'm having the same problem, Xaquang Highway won't load for me.

Please give me details, I will call this in.
What areas are not loading?
And what do you mean, specifically, by not loading?
Do you mean you hang at the loading screen and have to quit the game?
Are you getting an error message?
Could you please tell me after which update that would be? We've done a few live builds this afternoon and evening. Even an approximate time (preferably in PDT) would be very helpful.

The more details I can get, the better, and thank you.

I'm not sure about Zos Shivros (Mission loading area), but for I can give you the details on the other two I posted.

Arborstone (Mission loading area):
The game will just sit in the loading screen, at 0%. It will not respond to anything such as attempting to close the game. It was after the second update I downloaded on Friday.
The bug is still occuring now at 10:15 PDT (I think that's the time).

Character Ceation Screen:
It will pause then the Loading window will apear. No error message that I know of. When I click Cancel, I go to the log in screen. Still happening at the same time as above.

Just tried Xaquang Highway, same as Arborstone.

related to your post - are the various live updates you mentioned all related to the one update that was posted or is there quite a bit of other stuff that was changed and either hasn't been posted yet or isn't going to be posted? perhaps this info could help us give you more info by examining it more closely. I tried Zos Shivros outpost and the Skyway zone and both loaded up fine for me. I admit though that I only got the updates together at the end (wasn't on earlier today) in one lump sum. Maybe that helps..

thx for fixing Knight's btw. contrary to some of the posts, some of us are actually grateful you made the skin worth showing. now if you can just get the Duke and Warmaster Grast to give their 15k Knight's suits to the armour crafters we'd really be happy :-)

EDIT: I tried the character screens as well, tried to create pve tyria and cantha, as well as pvp.. all started working.. maybe this is more info that will help.. again I got all the updates in one lump sum, maybe some of the others got them as they were rolled out?

Same is happening to me after leaving it for ages i get this message:

"Guild Wars was unable to connect to the game server due to a network error. This may be cause by internet routing issues or a server network failure.
If the problem persists, please visit guildwars support website. (206.127.146.112:6112) (Code=005)"

It will only happen in certain areas. Some characters are at these areas and fail to login. This also stoped me from creating a new character for PVP.

oh its just err005, its not new... customer support prolly hates me (j/k) cos i had to ask for their help like 2-3 times per week just be4 the factions release... finally i figured out that basically nothing helps but if i just wait few hrs thing fixes itself... also they teached me how to fix possible bug on my end (my comp is really old and dreams about retirement) so just ask them politely and mb they'll be able to help u.

i'm still getting err005 from time to time, but not that often now (no more than once per week), but i gave up and i'm not sending any more mails to CS... i'm just waiting 3-4 hrs, running defragmenter/antivirus/spybots search and destroy and stuff like that.

I think the problem is due to a massive influx of wammo anger clogging the system. Just let me know where they all are, I think I may be able to remedy this with a well placed starburst....

On a serious note, I've been having the same problems and an insane amount of in game lagging in places like alliance battles in enteran keys and keining center. Even after resetting the game graphics to all low it was still barely playable, so the issue wasn't performance. Strange, I run on a high speed connection and never had lag issues but alot of areas, including zos shivros and arborstone. Me thinks this is all related somehow. Ty for the quick support on this issue Gaile and crew.

Just a note, this is still happening.

For me the places that aren't loading are: Lornar's Pass, and recently Droknar's Forge.

I get an error saying that it must be due to routing problems.

Same here, can't create any new characters.

Just tried to create a new RPG character and when I click on the RPG character type and dialog comes up saying "Connecting ..." and after a short period this error:

YOu all must have crap computers. Every 10 or so updates people start complaining about not being able to connnect. I've never had this happen.

This isn't a client side problem.

If u read the message it says due to Internet routing issues or a server network failure.

It doesn't say check your computer or internet connection. The problem is connecting to the 1 server on the ip address 206.127.146.112:6112. Any areas/districts running on this server u cannot connect to.

If you are on Euro servers try going to great temple of balthazar (if u go there and get the error u wont be able to play that character until its fixed). Thats where my monk is and wont log in. But i can play as my Ele at Iron Mines fine. Also the character creation does not connect.

I am having no issues loading anywhere, and I checked the areas listed by the OP.

On American servers, if that helps in diagnostics.

Well I'm getting connections in the places that were troublesome now. They probably fixed it, or were doing matenence.

a guild mate of mine was saying on vent that he couldn't make a PvP character when we were making a group. He said it wouldn't load the screen. This was last night. He was able to log on his PvE characters but he couldn't make a PvP character

Based on our alliance chat, its a pretty big issue. But its not limited to just certain areas although it does seem as if some are plauged at times more than others. I get 1-5 of these no loading things every day. Worst ive had it was 3 in about 5mins.

Makes playing with pugs a "cross your fingers and hope you make it out the door" deal.

oh this is so wrong. yes it says internet routing error. but that can be part due to your pc. if you use a hardware / software router with your pc to connect to internet this can lead to some connections beeing blocked ...
meaning that even your own computer can be the bad guy.

but in some cases you cannot do a thing about it because it can as well be something your ISP is blocking (view the guildwars.com network news page and see if there is a post for your ISP giving troubles with guildwars)
or it can be the arenanet server. but if it would be the arenanet server everyone should have the problem so my best guess is, its your pc, your router, or your ISP (in the last option, try to send an email to the support fo your ISP maybe they can open some ports or whatever)
