So, I'm on this quest to figure out some uses for those undesirable faction elites that noone ever uses. My first step is this simple, yet effective Discord build.
Kaida's Discord Build
Finally, a Discord Build!
Kaida the Heartless
Profession:
Necromancer / Elementalist
Stats:
Blood=11+2
Death=11+1+3
Sou=7+1
Air=5
Skills:
1. Taste of Pain (Variable Skill)
2. Vampiric Gaze (Variable Skill)
3. Discord
4. Gale
5. Fetid Ground
6. Vile Miasma
7. Consume Corps / Soul Feast
8. Resurrection Signet
Equipment:
- Defensive Armor, not Scars
- Death Skill Recharge Weapons
Here's how it works:
Use this skill chain to setup for Discord spam:
Gale --> Fetid Ground --> Vile Miasma --> Discord --> Discord
During combat, your actions look something like this:
Wait for Important Skill (Life Transfer, Attunements, Arcane Echo/Echo, Resurrect) --> Gale --> Fetid Ground --> Vile Miasma --> Discord --> Kite --> Discord --> Kite --> (When foe is below 50%, and if you need it) Taste of Pain --> Discord --> Etc.
If foe lives through a whole Miasma (10 seconds), switch targets. Vampiric Gaze should be needed in those few situations where you need non-conditional healing or a non-conditional final blow. Consume Corpse is used for obvious reasons. If you find your energy is okay, go ahead and switch it with Soul Feast.
I would only recommend this build for RA, AB, or maybe TA. The random factor (and lack of condition/hex removal) in both RA and AB make this build work.
Also, don't spam Gale. Your going to put yourself between a rock and a warrior with no energy to get out with! :P
Please criticize!

Oh, well mine is degen! :P
His build is curse and death, whereas mine is blood and death. Guess I could change the name of this topic...

well i like this build, but i think u dont need rez sig for AB. u can add some poisoning or slowing down tho instead of gale's KD, i'm going to try to adapt it for n/mes
pretty viable AB build for DM necro, running mm is getting old
edit; just figured out - there's an added bonus - u'll be consuming all corpses so opponent's mm will have less fiends......

N/Me isn't going to work. It was the first build I tried. There arn't enough "easy" knockdowns in the mesmer's inventory.
Also, your going to need Gust for Fetid Ground to work (which does do poison).
Yea, I wouldn't bring Res Sig into AB's.
Xenoranger's build is probably better for AB's, simply because it expends less energy and causes no exhaustion. His build can also switch targets more easily. My build, on the other hand, clearly has the RA advantage, with it's ability to interupt and degenerate.

I just checked up on the energy requirements of fetid, gale, etc. What I would suggest in a death/blood build is going purely necro on the damage. I would try Blood Drinker -> Plague Sending -> Vile Miasma -> Discord.
This way you can inflict damage with an initial spike and the energy usage is 15 vs 20. Note that you don't have to get close to the target either, and adjacent foes get the bleeding as well. You might consider rotting flesh as well but the 3 secs casting time is a bit painful. (As well as with blood bond and plague sending, but this way you can avoid exhaustion which might be the biggest downside of your build.)
Another option would be going N/R and using apply poison and a bow. With some points in Wilderness survival, you would have your running skill as well, which is not a bad thing for kiting.
I don't know if there are energy problems with that (probably there are some), but maybe it's worth a try.

I actually used blood drinker for a while, and it seemed to work, that is, until I had to use plague sending. The 10% doesnt seem like much, but since this build uses mostly conditional healing, it makes it difficult to gain it back. Your idea would certainly work much better for AB's since there is no exhaustion though.
I haven't tried using a ranger secondary, I think I'll look into it!

Just checked it, it's not good. There are no good hexes in death magic (cooldown is too much) so attributes must be spread in an awful way. Also there are energy management issues, so we can forget about the ranger secondary. I posted some ideas on the other thread as well, i'm testing them right now.

i tried this build running life siphon in place of vamp gaze, the build really needs another easily applied hex and siphon fills this role nicely as well as addign more degen and a bit of healing
Kaida the Heartless
Replace these for a life siphon variant:
Vile Miasma --> Life Siphon
Taste of Pain --> Signet of Agony/Blood Drinker
Vamp Gaze --> Plague Touch/Plague Sending
Provides 10 Health Degeneration with easily applicable conditions.
Life Siphon (3) + Bleeding (3) + Fetid Ground (4)
If you don't like gust:
Gust --> Life Siphon
Fetid Ground --> Signet of Agony/Blood Drinker
Taste of Pain -->Plague Touch/Plague Sending
Still 10 Degeneration, but no Knockdown/Interupt.
Life Siphon (3) --> Bleeding (3) --> Vile Miasma (4)
Vile Miasma --> Life Siphon
Taste of Pain --> Signet of Agony/Blood Drinker
Vamp Gaze --> Plague Touch/Plague Sending
Provides 10 Health Degeneration with easily applicable conditions.
Life Siphon (3) + Bleeding (3) + Fetid Ground (4)

Gust --> Life Siphon
