Er, excuse my general sense of immaturity, but did anyone else get a kick out of this?
Those two ads are, er, a little close together. Almost can misconstrue that they're advertising the same thing, well at least I did.
I must admit, the guy on the right looks like he has all the right moves.

ok ill try keep it clean but why these doodgey commercial's? this is after all an ''elite fansite'' ore iam o wrong? i mean it's a gaming site specfied on one game Guildwars so why nott try getting some sponsor from various gaming gear and computer stuff and nott some doodgey commercial's whith vigra, smiley's Etc..that you just know if you by some misstake click on you will end upp cleaning upp your machine from all kinds of nasty stuff..
what i mean is that it whould be much nice'r if all this so called ''junk'' commercial vanished i bet alot of ppl whould like that and the site whould look even more respectable...

Because advertisments are not as easy to get as you think. If you look across the other GW fansites they all have the same type of ads from the same type of advertisers. Gaming sites are notorisouly hard to get solid advertisers for as gamers know the net and overwhelming DO NOT click on ads.
I am lucky to get sponsors who will give us gaming gear such as video cards, keyboards, mice and more for contests. But to ask them to pay to be on a gaming site? Unfortunately an advertiser sees a fansite as a needle in a haystack.

so pretty much the doodgey ads that are solid here are keeping this site alive?
and removing them whould mean that the site had too be closed down ow much does these ads really pay i whould imag9ne that it's nott much att all...

Amity and Truth
I'm sorry if i'm necromancing this thread.
It seems that i'm having a serious problem with a certain Ad on GWGuru. The problem is that one of them (the smilie ones) consumes extreme amounts of CPU Power and RAM (i'm talking about 50%. I don't notice it that much when i'm just browsing but as soon as i'm playing GuildWars and forget to close the Browser in the Background i'm getting serious slowdowns whenever one of the smilie Ads is present. I'm speaking about a 40 FPS Drop in Performance...
It doesn't matter which browser i'm using, Firefox, IExplorer and Opera all act alike when it comes to the slowdown as soon as the Smilie Ad shows. All other ads so far did not cause these problems. Would be interesting to see if others have the same problems.
(System is up to date, Windows XP with the latest update for everything)

I never realised that, but it seems that some advertisements do tend to lock my computer's RAM up completely. It can be a pain at time, especially when I'm working on some PvP in Guild Wars and Diablo.
Perhaps there needs to be a check on what goes onto the advertisement spot? I know that it means less money for the site, but it can really cause problems for users.
I remember there being a thread about extreme lag when logging on to this site and gaming at the same time. At first I disagreed, but I have just recently noticed this too.
