This isn't a rant about it's existence, nor a request for it to be nerfed, simply asking that it be reworked.
There are two kinds of cripple, in my opinion. The first is temporary, such as from a broken leg or the like; the second is permanent, such as when you're hamstrung.
This leads me to laugh every time someone gets hit with 'hamstring' or 'crippling shot' and is immediately walking again a few seconds later.

I want to suggest that the mechanics of it be re-worked so that you have to heal yourself (EVERY class has a self-heal) or be healed for the condition to go away.
Naturally, a few skills might need to be adapted... but this way the condition would actually make sense >_>

P.S. This would also punish those stupid enough not to bring a self-heal, which is a good lesson for everyone.

<EDIT>: Such spells as Ethereal Burden and the like can logically keep their duration-cripple.

Guild wars isn't meant to be realistic. Cripple is fine the way it is.

Heightened state of mind.

This would only be acceptable if people could bring enough skills to cover every situation, with imparaments which last until healed it would be neccessary to bring certain healing skills, but since we have only 8 skills, conditions are set to a period of time.

None of these attacks are realistic, any one successful sword blow could kill, any one arrow could be fatal, and getting hit by all manner of elemental magic, people don't survive getting hit in the head with meteorites. In reality ongoing combat is about evading, blocking and deflecting the majority of the attacks, and successful hits are almost always serious injuries or fatal, instant deaths arn't fun in a strategy game, so we only take limited damage from several successful hits, and conditions don't last til remedied, that is just enjoyable game mechanics.

P.S. I still get flamed when my target shoots back after I shoot them point blank with a shotgun in CS, they should be doing backflips at that range even if they are still alive, but games arn't that advanced yet.

well then we would have to make poison, bleeding and all the others more realistic too, like the bleeding would get worse if you got attacked or didn't relax a bit and like posion could make you sick in other ways

On the level of game logic, cirpple is fine. Most cripple have long duration.. and you can always bring a remove condition skill..

If the game were realistic we wouldn't have half of the great enemies or skills that we manipulate on a 60 times an hour basis, not to mention alot of the luxon areas wouldn't look half as pretty. : )

How many people in real life fight with meteorites?

How many people in real life would survive if they did... i REALLY don't know why you replied with that.

You find it weird that people are suffering from a debilitating crippling condition and recover 10 seconds later. Yet people suffering from a Deep Wound (the picture of Eviscerate showing an arm been severed) and miracously been ok 2 seconds later? Don't bring too much realism here please...

Fine we nerf cripple to make it more realistic. all the while having instant healing, magical powers, and the ability to spawn fire, just like in real life...

Could you all please tell me where I used the term 'realistic' in my post?
Didn't think so.
Your counter arguments are based on nothing... except perhaps an innate desire to argue.

Unless you can find something more solid to counter my suggestion with, please FOAD.

Your body has immune responses that eventually overcome poison (whether or not you die before it does is another story).
Your blood naturally clots to stop bleeding, causing scabs and such (unless you're a hemopheliac... again, whether or not you die before this occurs is another story).

Cripple, on the other hand, is the story we're talking about. A broken leg I can perhaps see healing... not well nor quickly if they keep running around... but something like getting hamstrung is a permanent injury... hence why it would require healing to be mended.

I'm done defending this, it's my suggestion and you all really have no right to poke holes in it. Especially with your arguments about 'realism', something I never argued.

No; it would force people to take gimped skills on their bar for the sake of a terrible game mechanic.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Bah, it was a logical conclusion to your post, otherwise this thread would have dumbfounded the lot of them^^. They argued against your point, because it's debateable to say that a broken hamstring is permanent (if you make the realism thing totally irrelevant). IMO, It's not permanent due to the simple game mechanic -> self-healing when not in battle. This mechanic applies to all conditions, and because of this, crippling of any form can be cured by time, and not pureply by a healing spell. At best, you can only lengthen the time you cripple them for, by getting a mod that helps you... aim for the legs :P.
