55 Necromancer Troll Farming build

My brother and I developed this build. When I first thought of a 55 Necro I was heart broken to find out other people had done it before me lol. Anyway, here it is.

55 Necro Farming

Secondary: Monk

Curses-12+3+1
Healing Prayers-9
Protection Prayers-8
Smiting Prayers-5

Skills-

Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond

Protective Spirit

Weapon: Anything that will make enchantments last longer
Offhand: The -50hp grim cesta from the Cities of Ascalon quest.
Armor: it is best to use scar patterns for the energy boost, though it doesn’t really matter what armor you get(stats on armor rating doesn't matter either). If you decide not to get scar pattern do not worry about energy, this build is good for energy management. For my Necromancer I have a combination of scar patterns and some cheap armor from Ascalon.
Runes: You will need a superior curses rune, and four other superior runes. I would recommend the cheapest because the -75hp stacks no matter what. These five superior runes combined with the -50 cesta is how you will achieve the 55hp.
What to farm with this build: I have had the best success with this build farming mountain trolls right outside of Droks.

Before starting into a group you will need to have Balthazar's spirit, Essence bond, and Mending on. As you aggro the group you will need to put on protective spirit, followed by healing breeze. After those are up, cast reckless haste on the trolls and finally SS. After SS is on the trolls cast Zealots Fire; this should be cast every few seconds, but not too often because it will break aggro. Sometimes it is necessary to break aggro when healing breeze is interrupted and you have a lot of trolls around you; to do this, cast Protective spirit directly followed by healing breeze. Be sure to keep up SS; if SS gets interrupted use zealots to do damage as SS recharges.

Some people may not think a Necro can farm well as a 55, but I was able to get 5 sets of max armor and a set of 15k armor farming with this build, not to mention the almost 50k I spent on weapons. Good luck and happy farming

Have you tried using Guardian instead of Zealot's Fire, and casting it right before you cast HB, PS, or SS? It might help with the interrupts.

Also, what about the avicara that seem to infest the area near the trolls?

ummm only things different with your build are wreckless haste and zealots...

my suggestions... lose zealots, wroks for 55 monks but they also use 16 smiting... not worth it at 5, might as well use something worth while...
- Insideous Parasite
- Vigorous spirit
- Guardian

I use wreckless when I run my echo ss but it does speed up kills when soloing as 55... but trust me, zealots is just not worth it

Also, use points into BLOOD MAGIC instead of smiting so that you benefit from the energy from the offhand, thats suppose to be common knowledge

Shadowfox1125, no i haven't read that before. I have actually only read 1 55Necro guide, and that was after making this one:)

Undead Preacher, The reason I use zealots is to break aggro if needed, or say SS doesn't kill them all the way, 9dmg is enough to finish the job. I don't need the energy from the offhand because of Balthazar's and essence bond gives me enough(2 energy every time I get hit). The only time I run into energy problems is with 1 troll-- so it doesn't really matter . And after looking at the skill description of guardian, well I would run into energy problems then. With reckless haste giving the trolls a 52% chance to miss and all, I wouldn't get enough energy(guardian would give me a 36% chance to block/evade at the level I run protection praters at). Thanks for the suggestions.

waiver, true, but with reckless haste the trolls are missing 52% of the time making that pointless, imo. But I could be wrong....wouldn't be the first time lol....I'll give it a try.

EDITED TO ADD:

I just tried insidious parasite. Though some people may like it I didn't find the 20second recharge on it worth the 21hp I got from the troll. I also took the points out of smiting and put them into blood. I didn't find the small amount of extra energy worth the extra time ot took to kill the trolls without zealots. Just my opinion....but that's just what it is, an opinion.

...did it occur to you that most of the time Reckless Haste is only going to affect ~1/2 or 1/3 of the trolls since unless you 'cone' them they won't all be hexed...

On a side note-

Kali Magadalene- would you by any chance be a certain dark/dark enthusiast converted from coh?

EDIT: NM about the reckless haste thing, just remembered that you necros have to keep them in one little spot for SS to kill them all... I'm soo used to 55ing with a monk.

You only really want to cast Guardian right before you cast PS/HB/SS, and your AoE curse of choice (RH in this case), rather than keeping it up constantly. Even so, the energy will still come in fairly fast.

Still, it's whatever works best for you. I gave your build a try and ran around with a Guardian + Shadow of Fear build, and I admit that Zealot's gives you an added control over the trolls that's handy. On the other hand, I died every time with it, but can still farm the caves with the Guardian build.

That doesn't mean much, though. I died every time when I first tried Guardian.

It lasts for 21 seconds with a 20 second recharge, meaning you can hypothetically keep it on something pretty much all the time. While it is up, you've increased your comfort zone in terms of incoming damage vs. ability to heal it.

I used to use Shadow of Fear but I started using RH instead. Shadow of fear was nice with the fact that it slowed the trolls down, but they can still hit with every disrupting chop-- RH doesn't have that problem(to an extent anyway) and you won't die much since they hit you only 48% of the time. But it's all what you are used to.

Good point, but the way I use my build the trolls shouldn't even be around long enough to even merit casting insidious parasite more than once. But I guess I'm just not used to using it, if I practiced with it a lot I'm sure I would get the hang of using it:)
