Well, I looked through about 10 pages of threads, and didn't find any that matched my specific problem.
I can boot up the game just fine, and it'll run fine for a random amount of time. Could be 5 minutes, could be 20. Then everything lags right up to the point where everything on the screen is just barely twitching around. Also, while this is going on the characters seem to loose parts of their body. Most people become just heads with capes coming off them. Then everything just stops moving entirely.
The game isn't frozen completely because if I hit F12 and then ENTER it logs me out, and everything is fine. I can log in again, and the game is running fine.. until next time it happens.
The problem seems to be more frequent when I'm in town, but is not isolated to that.
My Specs Are:
AMD Athalon 1.7Ghz
1Gig DDR RAM
2x160 Gig HDDs
nVidia Geforce FX5500 (Latest Drivers)
I've tried running on lowest video settings, and lowest sounds settings. I've tried rolling back to the Forceware 84.25 (apperantly this helped others with crashes) and still nothing.
One last note, I originally bought the game about 4 months ago, and it ran just fine on my computer. No hardware modifications have been made since, yet now I have this problem. (drivers?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you can, Id get a new card, it sounds like it might be dying. It could also just be overheating, check temperature first. Anyway, the 5500 isnt really that good of a card anyway(for many modern game). You can get a good 128 MB card rather cheap these days. Take a look here http://www.pricewatch.com/

Yeah, probably temperature problems. If you don't have temperature monitoring on your system, take off the side and have a fan blow into the computer, and then play gw and see if it doesn't lose the objects and then lock up. If it does, definitely a temperature problem.
Do you have the june directx? If you do, when you run dxdiag it should say you have directx 9.0c 4.09.0000.0904. If not, try the new directx and see if that helps, all sorts of weird problems can happen if you have newer drivers and not the newest directx.
One other thing you can check is setting the Sound Quality in gw to the middle or lower, the lower the better. Setting the Sound Quality to higher settings makes the game have all sorts of problems for some reason.

I am using a NVidia GeForce FX video card and am having trouble seeing some terrain features. There is a known issue with NVidia GeForce FX video cards (GPUs) and driver version 61.77 when the user has changed "Image Settings" to "High performance". Some of the problems include missing terrain. The solution is to change your video settings to "High quality". To do this, follow these instructions: On Windows XP: Open Display Properties control panel Click Settings tab Click Advanced button Click GeForce "Version" tab Select Performance and Quality Settings in left window In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings Move the slider to the right to "High quality" The video cards/GPUs that are affected by this problem are: GeForce FX 5200 GeForce FX 5200 Ultra GeForce FX 5500 GeForce FX 5700 GeForce FX 5700 Ultra GeForce FX 5700LE GeForce FX 5900 GeForce FX 5900 Ultra GeForce FX 5900 XT GeForce FX 5950 Ultra GeForce PCX 5300 GeForce PCX 5750 GeForce PCX 5900 |

Creo_Nex said he/she rolled back to Forceware 81.25, Id try the Nvidia site again, redownload the driver, it MAY have gotten slightly corrupted during the D/L.

reinstalling pc sometimes helps too, or reinstalling the game. You could try to reinstall the game. I think it can't be the temp of the videocard because then you will see lots of artifacts mostly.

nvidia cards are having huge issues with GW at the moment with drivers from the 77s to the 91s. All you can do is put up with it till nvidia or arenanet fixes it, or borrow an ATI card.

Well, I tried reinstalling the game, and reinstalling the drivers. Neither helped. With the 84.25 drivers installed the problem seems to happen sooner than with the newer drivers. Also, with the 84.25's installed, I get the problem at Character Creation screens, and login menu as well.
With the newest drivers, the 91.31's, the game will often run for a fairly long time without problem. Yesterday I played for an hour before anything chunked up. Also seems that I can play for longest right after I reinstall the drivers.
So, kinda back where I started now. Looking into buying a new card, but I'd be really pissed if I ended up getting one, and that wasn't the issue.
