Extra storage - penny for your thoughts
TheMosesPHD
The extra crafting item storage was put there because where the storage originally accomodated 3-4 chars, now it accomodates 5-6 (and soon more). Of course they've stated that they are going to sell extra storage, but even with that does anyone think there might be a chance that once the third chapter comes out, and we have that many more chars and that many more armors, they might add another tab in storage? such as an armor rack tab?
Also I'm on vacation and can't access the game yet to check out all this new stuff. Someone made a comment that sort of implied to me that this upgrade wasn't for any character on an an account that bought Factions, but only available to Canthan based chars? I'm sure this is wrong but just wanna check. Can all my chars access this or just my Cantha fools?

Edit: So the short answer is yes, all your chars can as long as you have Ch2. lol

I didn't find the material storage to be that effective, if effective at all for me. So I can hold 250 of one material, fantastic.. (/sarcasm) It's good if you're holding small amounts of materials, but 15k armor alone calls for more than 250 of a material for each set.. I thought after this came out, I wouldn't need my mule anymore; alas, that is not the case..
I'd do anything for an extra storage tab or even an armor tab.

I appreciate the materials storage. It cleared 15-20 slots off of my characters and motivated me to sell off about 5 stacks of feathers I had been "hoarding" for no reason whatsoever (Damn Naphui Quarter).
I consider this my emergency stock. I want to craft a weapon, I know I always have 40 iron and a few steel on hand. If I think I want a new set of armor, I will save up the required materials, which generally doesn't take long if you salvage drops instead of selling them to the merchant.
Of course, more storage and "trade improvements" would really help clear storage, which is tight enough already when you have more than 1 set of armor (which I don't, but would like) and upwards of 15-20 weapons on a character for different builds (which I do).

The whole material thing will be great for me because for most of my GW career my storage bin was nearly completely dedicated to materials. I had to fill my storage up with materials again once factions came out and will need to again if I buy Chapter 3, so I'm glad I'll suddenly have tons more room for junk. I seem to keep "needing" more and more monk armors/weapons as the game progresses.
Cador
I think like parson, I have been trying to fill up the material slots which i can tell is going to be difficult at least for the rare ones, the common ones i already have all filled and have about 200 left over of all of them except Wood which i have about 2300 left over .
Another little upgrade feature would be nice so we can store more materials.
But i dont mind. No monthly fee>Limited storage

What about extra storage for us to purchase. Like a special NPC that would offer 1 or 2 or whateve number of storage bank you want for certain price.
This materials storage help me removed most of the extra materials out of my storage space. I thought it was going to be more than a stack per materials but guess i was wrong there.

The addition of the materials storage greatly uncluttered my vault! I am finally able to store weapons that one avatar had found that others could use.....without being forced to take out a stack of <insert crafting material here> and then do the swap. All my dyes are now neatly stored (instead of trying to remember who had the red and who had the silver, etc.).
ONLY problem I have is my new Tyrian avatar has such a long time to wait until he can access the new tab. Oh wait, that problem was already solved; I simply keep extra partial stacks out of the materials he will need for armor. Wow, that was difficult!
I don't understand people complaining about not having room for their extra armors, etc. Geesh! What do you do, horde everything you ever pick up? All of my avatars have at least one extra set of armor (even the new guy) and several weapons to alternate---with plenty of extra room for those cast-away goods the monsters don't need anymore.

First off, I appreciate the storage greatly, its a nice little thing to help out with some space.
Second off, and this is to all the people whining and complaining about it either a) not being enough or b) they still have to use a mule:
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! You have to take 30 seconds out of your time to change characters in Port Sledge to trade mats around, muling is hard and anet is stupid for making you do it. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!
-----
Sorry, just really needed to let off some steam to people who are complaining like this. I mean, seriously, its not like its HARD or it requires even a little brain power. Are you that lazy and whiny?
Can I have a penny now?

OK, so they define the materials storage as content, and not as a basic feature upgrade. And declares that anyone who had the audacity to assume that STORAGE was a "basic feature" was misinformed, and greedy (OK, the words used were "sense of entitlement") for thinking that all accounts would get this upgrade.
They still haven't defined "basic feature" as opposed to "content." Will auction houses be "new content" or a "basic feature?" Aparrently, whatever the players think, Anet has reserved the right to arbitrarily decide that. Will adding reconnects be a "new feature" only available to owners of a specific chapter? Anet's decision to ignore the community on storage opens up a lot of questions for the future, and to be honest, their refusal to answer questions like "what is the difference between 'content' and 'basic feature upgrade'" leaves those questions hanging menacingly.
Anet ALSO decides to charge a small amount per character, despite stating clearly on their website that they will not do so. I for one have little faith when a person or company says one thing, then does another. It's called LYING. Even if it was unintentional, it is still false information distributed to the entire playerbase. And nothing has been said by Anet about it. If it was an honest mistake, at least have the decency to own up to it: "yeah, we screwed up, sorry." It doesn't take much to apologize for a mistake, but when you make a mistake, and then refuse to admit it, trust issues begin to crop up.

I like the upgrade, since crafting mats and dyes were occupying all of my storage beforehand. Storage is storage, and although it didn't free up a terrible lot (about 3-4 spaces on each of my characters), it's space I didn't have before.
Also, the way they implemented it (what with the Xunlai representative and all) makes me think that this isn't the last we've heard of storage upgrades. No idea when or what those further upgrades will be, but I'm fairly confident that there will be more.

They should give us atleast one new line of storage per game, thats my thought. But mats storage has been a success, Im just filling it up, so im good for a rainy day. Its been a pain not having mats when their needed the most.

this is extra storage for people who now have more things to store than someone who only has chapter 1.
see the difference?
more things to store and more storage to put them into.

The difference is only in how Anet defines it, but without a definition from THEM, we'll have this discussion over and over, each time what they define as "new content" differs significantly from what we define as "new content."
And when I say "we," so you know, I'm not trying to speak for everyone. There was a poll on another site, in which about 70% of the 300+ people who actually cared enough about the matter to vote, thought that storage, and upgrades to storage, were an integral part of the game itself, and therefore a basic feature, and not new content.
And yes, I own both chapters, it doesn't affect me personally, but I probably won't own EVERY chapter that gets released, and making upgrades to basic features chapter-specific is a bad precedent.
