Nightfall character slots?

Well, more info on Nightfall is comming out, so I was wondering how many character slots this one would provide? Also, it might be good to know if there will be any reduction in the number of slots if you link accounts. I can kind of sense the 4 * 3 = 8 equation comming , but haven't seen anything official on the matter.

same as chapter 2.

4 slots unlinked.

6 slots if one additional chapter purchased (GW or Factions)

8 slots (2 more) if you have all three chapters

While this seems likely, there is no info on this yet. Some people may see this post and say, "Oh, Anet announced more slots, yay." Don't post something like that if there is no backup.

ummm.............yes there was.

specifically stated that nobody would have to delete a long term character to use one of the new professions.

that seems clear.

2 new professions last time along with 2 slots merged to handle the new professions and 4 slots if you installed Factions separately.

add 2 professions this time and not force deletions seems to be at least 2 new slots merged to handle them.

i dont see less than the minimum 4 slots stand alone.

where is the problem?

That was stated where, exactly? Certainly not in the press release posted on the official site today.

People clearly get info from places other than the official site, but I'd appreciate a link.

ask Gaile Gray for the reference as it goes back a bit and i am not hunting it up.

she stated that deletion of a prized long term friend was unreasonable and would not be needed.

if for this event unless they change things from every time before you will be able to create a temp account if your slots are already full.

if the retail release imagine the outcry if no or only 1 slot were given

after the massive outcry over the possibility that Factions would have only 1 slot instead of 2 slots they will not repeat that potential disaster.

Methinks it will be just like Chapter 2... 2 additional slots for a linked chapter. 4 additional for an unlinked chapter.

This also brings up the question of how many character slots TOTAL will be available per account. Since we are supposed to be able to purchase additional character slots soon, it makes me wonder what kind of limit we will see.

Prophecies + (Linked) Factions = 6 total slots
Prophecies + (Linked) Factions + 2 Additional (Bought) slots = 8 total slots
Prophecies + (Linked) Factions + 2 Additional (Bought) slots + Nightfall (Linked) = 10 total slots(??)

im not sure why, but i always thought the max was 8 per account, but with all the new additions coming up, we will have to see. I personally hope we DONT have a limit, or at least the limit is set fairly high like maybe at 16 slots total. What do you think?

It would be silly to have a limit on character slots.

less money for anet if they limit character slots. if somebody wants to buy up a gazillion slots then let them. more money for anet

i'm hoping that eventually there will be a time where there are like..... 24 proffesions to choose from... the glorious diversity! then those of us (you bet i'm buying any expansions that come out.... almost didn't with factions and nearly missed ALOT!) who buy all the expansions would have like 22 char slots.... oh the sheer glory....

Well see how much they made off Factions, i would have to say that they can. Though we don't know the total number they made, their still doing pritty good it seams. But as for character slots, i don't see their being a max of how many you can have. But i HOPE they let us get them before the PVP Nightfall beta testing so that people that don't have any can use them.

Considering that Anet intend to release a new expansion every 6 months, I cant see why they will change the current trend of 2 slots joint account 4 slots seperate account. What I would like to know is, will they add a new slot for the preview event? (I dont particularly feel like deleting one of my 6 char's for this)

Loviatar is correct in that some time back Anet announced that as each new chapter/campaign was released that we would not be forced to delete previous characters to try out the new professions.

As to whether or not Anet will be remaining firm on this old sentiment is the real question here.

I have my fingers crossed that I can link it to my current acct which is already holding toons* from both prophecies and factions and get two new slots. If the new slots are not mentioned when I go to link them as they were when I linked Prophecies and Factions, then I will cancel the action and just make a new acct. I know this means no shared bank acct, but I have guildmates who can help me with transferring items between toons
