Coming from WoW GW is pretty good. After making several 60's and working on another char I was starting to get burned out. Not to mention certain "features" were turning me off, such as traveling.
What really made me switch over was the fact that in order to progress further, you needed to live in instances. Well if I am going to do that anyway, I might as well play GW and hire some henchmen to come along. There was nothing more annoying that waiting aorund for an hour or so trying to get a group going. Now it's instant. Plus I don't have to keep paying every month.
Sure I have only played for one day but it feals like I was about to get more done for the amount of time I put it.
As it turns out, I found out my brother got into GW's also. The funny thing is, we created the same exact type of characters without knowing it, Ranger/Necromancer. I guess its no surprised seeing how we played hunters in WoW. The only problem with this is, he got GW:P I have Factions. He is unwilling to buy Factions, and I would have thought that buying the upgrade would give me access to Prof., kind of like how UO is set up.
Do I need to buy the other GW's to hang out with my brother?
The only other thing I find annoying about GW's is the fact that I can't jump. And have yet to figure out how kiting works in this game. I am still going through documentation though.
Side note, I am a huge fan of pvp, And I get the fealing this might be the game for me.
Impressed so far

The only place you can meet is the PvP islands and do stuff there together.
For doing PvE-stuff, you'll need to get Prophecies or have your bro get Factions.

Yeah, Factions and Prophecies are separate games, but you can link the two on installation of the second to allow travel between the two. Unless you do that, the two games remain separate entities. (But the ability to link is very nice...)
Kiting boils down to, in a nutshell, continually moving with directional changes to shake attacks. It keeps my left hand rather busy (I prefer to move with the keyboard personally).

I highly recommend that you and your brother get Chaper 1 and 2 repectively. Combined they provide you with 2 additional character slots for free and work hand-in-hand.
Both games contain core skills which are vital to some PvP and PvE builds in-game. So if you going to be PvPing a lot, its in your best interest to have both.

Netmon I would love to help you out in Guild Wars. If you could please add me Everlasting Sorrow, I am totally big into pvp since there is so many forms of it. If you ever need a question add me to your friends and private message me. I could always help you with quests or other things.

Guild Wars is a fun game, it is wasy to get addicted. If your brother also enjoys PVP then that would be great for you both (I think PVP is where true skill is shown). Team Areana 4 vs 4 and Heroes Acent 8 vs 8 are great that you can play together. I would suggest for one of you to get another chapter to play PVE togther. I think that you would have hours of fun with your bro. Good luck.

Kiting is simply running away from tanks. As long as youre moving, they cant hit you unless they get a speed boost. Even if they are faster, they have to catch up to you after each hit.

And thats exactly why I love gw, because its game where much skill is required and where less time is required, while on the other hand, WoW is the complete opposite.

Welcome and may i say your choice of character was a great choice!
If you like PvP you should have Factions, but it would be alot better to have both for all skills.
