If you can’t beat it exploit it.

With the new update on warrior damage reduction vs. physical only. I have come to the conclusion that elemental damage is the best thing to kill any warrior one on one. Instead of paying lots of money for that Sundering 20/20 mod on your sword make a weapon with a Shocking Ebon Icy or Fiery mod instead. Most armor has armor 80 (20 less then 100) vs. these types of damage with NO DAMAGE REDUCTION now, SO EXPLOIT IT for all its worth. With enough people exploiting ANET might reconsider their damage reduction vs. physical only change.
Dr Strangelove
It's not an exploit, elemental damage has always been the way to go against warriors.
Also, an exploit is using something that wasn't intended, like adding two mods to an axe. This was fully intended and, quite frankly, a much needed change.

awsome idea.... i think exploiding it will show and prove its flaws...
I love how the "Warriors on Strike" was closed do to flaming (ele dmg) not the normal trolls (phys dmg) so to say, but all the random ppl flaming (ele dmg) the warriors.....
very ironic if u ask me....

Another brilliant thread. Yes, let's "exploit" elemental damage! That'll show em!
Dr Strangelove
Warriors deal more damage than eles. I vote we exploit that to deal damage, then Anet will see the problem! Monks can heal all that l33t damage I just did, let's exploit that! Rangers have extra damage vs. elemental! I'm going to counter this exploit with another exploit to show Anet how wrong they are!
Jessyi
I agree with GnomeSmasher.
I think I'll just wait a month for people to completely forget this update ever happened.

Elemental damage has [/i]always[/i] been more effective against warriors.
You aren't "exploiting" anything here.

It sure is easy to tell who has and hasn't PvP'd before.

Rangers can meet the requirements of bows, lets exploit that too by bringing Bow Attacks!

My ranger thanks all the warriors who switch to elemental damage, it'll make his life so much easier

You see in a way ANET has solidified the type of weapons used in the game. I don't believe this was thier intent. Not every warrior in the game owns a Elemental type weapon. NOW they have every reason to own one. Makeing thier change "buff" completely usless.
Now you will see less Victos Axes in the game. Tell me when your playing don't you see many non ele weapons in the hands of warriors? I see it all the time. Armor alone was not a reason to get one, NOW there is because it bypasses all damage reduction.

I'm a Ranger and I've decided I am going to exploit by using my bow to kill things. Muwahahahahahahaha, that'll show everyone.

I believe he is referring to 'exploiting a weakness' rather than 'exploiting a flaw in the game'. Ele damage (especially air, which has many spells with armour penetration... a sundering mod of its own) has always been extremely effective against warriors. It's why I generally take an air ele into AvA so I can kill off those stupid soloing warriors who chase me across the map as I try to cap (since I'm the only one on the team who isn't fighting for the dragon roost).
While you speak some truth, the point is already clear to everyone who has played PvP long enough. Eles>Warriors.

What kind of warriors have you been fighting o.O
Fluffyx
Warriors don't only fight other warriors, so you're reducing your damage vs classes with elemental armor. :P
Do you really think its worth it just to reduce 3 points of damage, vs sup absorbtion.
Sure you can carry an elemental weapon for warriors to get past that absorbtion but its not an exploit. Not even close. @_@

My ranger already does 55+ dmg with my bow shots to a warrior, no need to switch to ele damage.

The title of this thread is misleading. Maybe it should be like:
"If you can't beat it, rally people to 'exploit' an aspect of the game so maybe Anet will change it back to when it's a lot easier for you, eventhough it's not really an 'exploit' that Anet will use as a reason for a change because it doesn't go against what is intended by the game."
Hmm ... maybe that is a bit too long.

How about "Playing the game as it was intended in a more balanced fashion?"

You should have both an elemental mod as well as other prefix mods for all your weapons. You should have had these things long before the update. You should know the common armor stats of a player you plan on railing on and chose a weapon accordingly. The update has changed close to nothing that would affect this decision. If you aren't doing this, you are a bad warrior.
fyi: using an elemental mod vs anything that doesn't have buffs vs physical is just wasting your prefix mod. Not to mention the fact that it would reduce your damage output vs many armor types. There is no single weapon mod you should be using, and that hasn't changed since the update.

...How is this an exploit? People have been doing this in pvp for a while. Warriors pre reduction nerf used elemental mods to not trigger the +20 armor vs physical on the usual Gladiator armor that most people use.
Also, you can always switch weapons when you're hitting/spiking something else. Come on guys, adapt to the battle.

I've always carried an elemental weapon my Warrior... just in case I got stuck doing 1v1.
It's not an exploit.. its common sense.

I agree, this is not so much an exploit as it is just the way it is.
A true exploit would follow under this: http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...sofconduct.php
"You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars. Bugs should be promptly reported via "Ask a Question" at http://support.guildwars.com."
Unnatural or unintended benefits, which would suggest to me this really isn't an exploit. My suggestion is not to throw the word "exploit" around so brazenly when it doesn't necessarily apply. Maybe more appropriately "if you can't beat it, abuse it" or something like that.

shadow damage is better than anything armor penetrating so SS is the way to go
Swiffle
This thread is retarded. It was always better to use an elemental weapon against warriors, this is nothing new. Not even close to an exploit, sorry.

I must confess to exploiting Divine Favor every time I cast a monk spell. It's really unfair that you receive bonus healing for each attribute point I have expended.

As for ranger armor, well, that's why you bring a second, vampiric weapon, just for the hell of it.
twicky_kid
Its funny that rangers now have better armor than wars. They just deal less dmg with their weapon but can make that up with a pet.
Ranger for DPS war for spiking. I guess that's the way Anet wanted it.

I don't know... anyone who has a warrior that didn't have both a physical and elemental weapon on their char by the time this 'update' was introduced... shouldn't be called an experienced warrior, even i (yes, me... that nooblet of a warrior) always have one of each type; my ranger even used to have all 4 elemental bowstrings on 4 different 15^50 collectors bows, then one unmodded bow, and a vamp one, never bothered to get a zealous mod though...
in other news, this should make the Ice Breaker and the IDS popular (again), i reckon

Well we can split some hairs about terminology. Exploit @ dictionary.com:
1 To employ to the greatest possible advantage: exploit one's talents.
2 To make use of selfishly or unethically: a country that exploited peasant labor.
Using elemental damage against warriors is the former. Duping crystalline swords would be the latter
