Yesterday when my friends and I won the "Hall of Heroes," I emoted and told them that they were all " NOOBS." But when i logged on today, i got moved from rank 9 to rank 8, wtf??!!?!?!!!? can anyone tell me why? by the way, the word noob is not offensive. It is another term for newcomer or new player.

No, Newbie is another word for a new player, Noob is a derogatory term.
You would likely have been warned or told that you were going to have your fame reduced, it's likely that either there has been a glitch somewhere or you were mistaken about being rank 9.

Maybe its me but i do find it offensive,in a way. If you call a player(who played GW longer),n00b. Your telling him/her that there playing like a beginner, there probabely gonna find that offensive. Plus the fact it shows disrespect.
Now i dont know whats normal in these battles(never played 1 ,yet), but ive played other games in competitive ladders, and GG or something. Shows a little more respect.
Although its seems a bit hars to punish for this

The same problem actually happened to a guildy of mine. It's rare because no one talks of it, much. But losing fame can happen for some reason or another. I guess someday they'll find the problem and fix it. Just send a support ticket in and try and give em as much detail as you can. They prolly won't be able to help you, but tell them you just want them to be informed to prevent future problems. Don't ask them for your fame back because 1. they can't do that and 2. if you do they might disregard your entire support ticket as just a typical begging email.

No, I don't think it was a bug. I've heard from a friend that it has happened to him under the same circumstances - ranking and calling someone a noob. I guess if it's reported and Anet thinks that it's disrespectful, fame reduction is the punishment. It hasn't happened to me personally and Anet never says what they actually do so there's really no proof...

If you honestly believe that then seriously think about what you did while you grind back to Rank 9.

I've also heard the rumour that nasty comments + rank spamming the loosing party = loosing fame.
Don't know whether it's true or not. As far as I'm concerned, rank spamming is fine, nasty comments are not.
In the case of the OP, I'd say you deserved it.

If they were to implement new punishments for violators, they would notify people. Translation: do not spread wild stories without a shred of proof. If you actually were rank 9, and suddenly find yourself rank 8, I suggest you file a support ticket and start grinding.

It is okay to flash a rank, after beating an other guild. There is nothing wrong about gloating after a battle well fought, imho.
Name calling, on the other hand, is not okay. http://www.guildwars.com/support/ is the only one who can tell you if you are demoted. If they punnished everybody who called the word "Noob", they must do a whole lot of work with the speed of light.

i've had fame deducted simply for emoting after we'd won a game. Anet have some serious issuses if they punish players for using an emote...
