I've come up with this idea, strictly because my Swatch watch buckle broke on me last night. I have this really cool watch with a green Dragon head on the face.
Anyhow...
As we all know, Guild Wars prides itself on being a non-subscription fee MMO where it generates most of it's revenue from the sales of expansions or campaigns.
My idea is based on the skill pins that were handed out at E3, as well as the concept of other unique, and 'cool' things to collect.
With the same concept as Swatch Watch's (www.swatch.com), why not have a series of designable watches, collectable, based on Guild Wars character classes and skills.
Each class has it's own unique watch band, something that would easily distinguish it from other classes within the series. Maybe an image of the main role character down the watch band, et el.
The watch face, however can be customized by the consumer allowing them to select one skill design (limited design, I would imagine, but nonetheless) to be the face of the watch.
For example, let's say I wish to purchase the 'Monk Collector Swatch Watch', Mhenlo is printed on the watch band, and the face of the watch I would choose the skill Resurrection Chant.
Each of the watch's could retail for $50, and every time a new class would be introduced into Guild Wars, much like with the upcoming Nightfall campaign, adding those classes would add to the entire collection.
I like to be unique in the things I wear, being different and standing out from a crowd.
The question remains from a consumer stand-point, how many of our forum members would purchase a collector's watch, especially made from a reputable company like Swatch?!
Post your comments and ideas, would love to hear them!
