Since im buying guildwars tonight I can't decide whether to buy vanilla GW, or go with factions. Is there anything really good in factions to make it worth buying over GW?

thanks

I suppose if you like the concept of Alliance Battles you could pick up Factions first o.o

Honestly, I think going with "Vanilla GW" would be much more productive, seeing that it allows you time to learn how to play the game properly. The game incrementally gets harder, while Factions is easy at first, then it ramps up the difficulty to an extreme for newcomers.

Aggro, baby!

GW original will get you off to a much better start as Factions is meant for experienced characters and the starting area basically gets you into the deep end of the pool to sink or swim as fast as possible.

i spend more time in GW than Factions

I guess it all depends on what kind of experience you're wanting to get out of Guild Wars.

Personally, I'd recommend starting in Prophecies. It allows you to immerse yourself and really take your time to develop your characters and get an understanding of the game.

I just don't think Factions would hold your attention as long because you get the highest level/armor/weapons fairly quickly into the game.

Factions because most people play it. They're both great games. Choose Prophecies(Vanilla GW?) if you like playing alone and love PvE.

When and how did prophecies get the nickname vanilla GW? O.o I'm confused. does vanilla mean something besides a type of food in another language? :O

Oh you won't be seeing us, we're forum lurkers! We already have the game

Which class you want to participate in will be your decision. Pick a character that appeals to you and go with it. You will start in a world called "pre-searing" and it's basically a tutorial world. It will let you mess around with skills from all classes and eventually you will get to mix your current class with any other class you choose.

Of course, you can always start a new character if you want to play with a new class completely ^^.

Have fun and good luck on your adventures!
