Im currently running this rig:

AMD Athlon 3400+ 2.4 GHz CPU
128 mB Nvidia GeForce 6800 Vanilla with Pipes unlocked.
1 GB Corsair Ram
Windows XP Professional
160 GB Western Digital Caviar Hard Drive
Chaintech Zenith VNF-250 nForce Motherboard

For some reason, its still lagging, which is happening with a lot of people apparently, on the threads in gwonline.com

Note - I tried Nosound, didnt work.

Im getting - 10-20 FPS in Battle, 15-23 FPS in Heroes Ascent, 23 - 30 FPS in Kaineng Center, 38 - 61 FPS in Guild Hall.

I dont know what happened to the rig, its all clean from dust, but It doesnt run like it used to, 35 FPS in battle, 60 FPS anywhere else.

Anyways, what card should i consider buying now? AGP only, thanks to the stupid mobo :P

Ah, and i dont have a sound card, I'd like one of those under $40.

My budget for the Vid Card is $200 or less.

Also, any suggestions to fix this is appreciated, and i wonder why this happens, since the card should run it FINE.

-dx8 fixes the FPS drop after a few fights. I have the same card, 12 pipes 6 vertex and it runs around 30 fps in Factions, 50 in Prophecies.

[edit] and I'm on a P4. Try forcing the renderer to -dx8.

something to look at.

I think you will be hard pushed to get a card better then what you have already for $200, 6800gs is till $200 range and thats justy basically a 6800gt.
Ebay may be worth a look.

Your rig seems fine, do you have trouble in other online games, or just GW? Also, dont forget to check your connection quality. Thats always the first thing I look at.

That spec is way more than enough to run Guild Wars adequately.

Perhaps there is a problem/bug with the game, or misconfiguration with these people's systems or other kind of wierd combination of factors.

Sound does on occasion but more usually doesn't have affect on visual performance. Under normal circumstances, sound can barely, if at all, account for any frame rate loss.

Suggests to me that the game is having trouble rendering multiple player models. Can't think why though.

This reenforces my suspicion that there is some problem with your system as opposed to not having adequate sysem specs.

Possible causes of unaccountable loss of performance can be caused by background programs. Try closing all but necessary processes running on your system.
