You already have a PVP slot, it's not their fault that you can't restrain yourself from locking yourself in. It's not like you don't know what you're getting yourself into when you make 6 pve characters.
The big negative: Giving everyone an extra character slot even though they didn't pay money for it and aren't able to limit themselves to only 5 pve characters. Seriously I can't even comprehend what pushes some people to make a second pve character much less 6 with the knowledge that if you do make that 6th one that you won't be able to PVP. Jesus Christ.

Look at it this way: Anet is not about to increase their server load for free, you'll get the same amount of space unless you're willing to pay. Knowing this, Anet is not going to give you more than 6 slots unless you pony up some cash. A default PvP slot means you would have five (5) usable PvE slots and a default PvP slot. If that happened, we'd have people pissing and moaning that they hate PvP and wish they could do whatever they wanted with that last slot. As it is now, you have a choice whether or not you want a PvP slot. If you don't, that's great, enjoy PvE and all that it entails. If you do, wonderful, you can easily keep a slot open for it. Personally, I prefer making my own choices rather than having them made for me, but that's just me.
You should already have a default PvP slot from the start, how you keep it is restraint. No where does it say that you need to fill up your account with PvE characters, and it isn't Anets fault that you don't have room for this extra character.
Like I said in another thread with this problem, just like the last preview event for factions, you should have known that there would be a PvP testing event and should have forsaw it and kept a spot open.

As many have already said, you had 4 pvp slots when you first bought the game, you just filled em up with pve characters instead.
Couple of reasons I'm against this, the use of we in the title attempts to make it sound like you're talking for the community, clearly you're not. Secondly why should Anet give you something for free when they can just sell you an extra character slot a month or two down the line?

Basically what you're asking for is an extra character slot. I already have a dedicated PvP slot. I made it myself. Just think about it this way:
You have 5 character slots and 1 dedicated PvP slot (assuming you own both games)
or
You have 3 character slots and 1 dedicated PvP slot (if you only have one of the chapters)
If you do not want a dedicated PvP slot, you may use it for an extra PvE character.
Would we all like an extra slot? Sure. Why not? The thing is we all know it's not just going to be given to us for free. That has been well established over and over again.
