An interesting observation.
Priest Of Sin
I'm beginning to think that Anet favors certain classes over others. Crazytalk, you say? Well, look at two runs of the Deep that I did today.
Mission: The Deep (spent 3:04 hours there)
Players:
Priest Of Sin- Battery (0 gold drops, 0 purple, 3 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (3 gold drops, 7 purple, 18 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (5 gold drops, 3 purple, 11 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (7 gold drops, 18 purple, 3 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (15 gold drops, 12 purple, 1 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (12 gold drops, 2 purple, 18 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (9 gold drops, 15 purple, 3 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (4 gold drops, 2 purple, 7 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (2 gold drops, 5 purple, 13 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (4 gold drops, 2 purple, 7 white)
XXX XXX- Spiteful Spirit (0 gold drops, 0 purple, 8 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (6 gold drops, 4 purple, 22 white)
OK... now, let's review.
That was the total ammount of drops (that I managed to count) that everyone got. Notice anything? Aside from being outrageously high for rares (I dunno what was up with that... uber h4x maybe? :P ) The necros seemed to be getting the short end of the stick there. At first I thought "Wow, I'm really ******* unlucky today. Oh well, try again I suppose." So, we decide to do another run.
Priest Of Sin- Battery (0 gold drops, 3 purple, 18 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (8 gold drops, 7 purple, 15 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (5 gold drops, 3 purple, 11 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (13 gold drops, 10 purple, 3 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (11 gold drops, 12 purple, 1 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (15 gold drops, 2 purple, 18 white)
XXX XXX- Monk (10 gold drops, 15 purple, 3 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (8 gold drops, 0 purple, 7 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (9 gold drops, 0 purple, 13 white)
XXX XXX- Elementalist (11 gold drops, 0 purple, 7 white)
XXX XXX- Spiteful Spirit (0 gold drops, 12 purple, 8 white)
XXX XXX- Warrior (6 gold drops, 4 purple, 22 white)
Once again, the Necros got fewer drops, and they were not as good as the other party member's drops. In fact, the numbers are shockingly similar. That got me thinking. Who, in most of my high-end instance farming runs, has gotten the most drops? The answer, of course, is the monks. So I pose this question to you: Does Anet favor monks over other classes? It certainly seems so. For instance: you MUST have a monk (at LEAST one) in all missions. All the other classes are inter-changeable.
Just an interesting observation.

Actually, I've been thinking something along those lines since GW game out over a year ago.
My war and my husbands war finished the first game without ever having seen a gold drop.
With both of our monks, we started getting them as soon as we hit Yaks. We play equally as much with our monks as with our wars.
Hubbys necro has never seen a gold...though he doesnt get used as much...
The use of henchman doesn't seem to make too much of a difference for either us. The monks with henchmen will still get golds, the warriors without henchmen still won't.

What logic makes you think that 2 runs is a statistically significant sample, upon which you can draw such a conclusion?
Bad Apache
I allways thaught the drops were entirely random. Your studies are too "short-term" to be considered any proof really. Although, across the 2, Monks are favoured...
I wonder where Rangers stand

Cherng Butter
I was suprised at the number of gold items my factions PvE necromancer got, but now looking back, they weren't that many. Compared to my PvE prophecies ranger, however, there were significantly more drops.
logan90
Monks are not favored like that, or at least mine isnt. My monk would get drops more along the lines of the SS necros. Also what nuee said..
ilovecp
That's silly.. I was doing the Deep the other day with my monk and all I got was 2 crappy golds and lots of whites. Then again I wonder if they nerf your drops based on how much money you have..
Mr_T_bot
I wish I was those monks. My Monk doesn't get squat, even solo.
Kai Nui
I have to say, on many trips in FoW and UW it sure seems like both monks will either get thier shard/ecto drops first or get even 2nds before anyone even snags one.
Vahn Roi
My guess would be that you tripped the anti-farm code earlier before entering the deep and it effected your drops within said mission as a result.
Retribution X
My monk usually is the one to get golds also.
I always thought that was strange.

Conclusion:
1st Run : Lowest gold gotten by anyone = 0
2nd Run : Lowest gold drops gotten by anyone = 0
This shows 2 things :
A) Not a single gold chest in two runs (or they were not taken into account).
B) 163 total gold drops from monsters in 2 runs (avg 81.5 per run)
C) BS stats.
D) This is indeed, as you say, "crazy talk."
Sorry dont buy it for a moment. I farm those places and I have yet to see 50+ golds drop with no chests involved (even then, 3 gold chests * 12 = 36. Still need another 14 golds to drop from monsters... rare case indeed). Reads like you pulled those numbers from the dark corner of your mind. Id like to go on a run where golds are 1/3 and 1/4 of all drops. Imagine that for every 10 creatures you kill theres 2-3 golds.
What your two run "study" confirms is : Nothing.

Don't listen to him people! Monks get all the good drops.
TwinRaven
statistically, your sample is far too small to draw conclusions. You need a larger sample size, say 100 runs with even numbers of each class for each run to draw a more accurate statistical conclusion. It's like flipping a coin 12 times and getting heads 10 of 12 times and claiming it to be an "unfair" coin. Make several more runs, nothing less than 50....then compare and see if things don't even out a bit...Think of it this way: I did 24 Rotscale runs, in a group of 8, I should have acquired 3 bows in a perfect universe...I got 5...one third of the runs were done with my ranger: 0 bows, the rest were done with my Ritualist: 5 bows. The Ranger should have 1 and the Ritualist should have 2. My ranger character may claim "unfair", but statistically, this isn't near enough runs to claim fair or unfair....the more runs, the more it will reach a number close to the expected number...If I ran 800 times, I could expect a number closer to 100 bows regardless of character...If I consistently gain more than my expected share at this number (ending up with 140 bows), then it can be concluded, with a fair degree of certainty, that I'm one lucky son-of-a-bitch...er...the game favors my character.
Phoenix Arrows
Not enough runs. Also, I doubt someone only got 3 drops throughout the whole thing, let alone WHITES. I don't think this is accurate enough.
Hidden in the Mist
Could be just the placement of the characters in the party list.
Rent
Who the hell gets 15 gold drops in one run? I want to have their luck.
Thallandor
I share the same observations with the OP for greens/golds in SF/GF runs since it started last summer that monks generally get better drops in a group and a necro usually the least esp if you are MMing.
Kool Pajamas
My monk gets the worst drops of any of my characters.

oh freak i'm getting my monk to the Deep
woot woot
is it even possible for them to nerf ur drops?? or even ur account for that matter from gold drops?
Clerihew
I know that it is random but I totally sympathize with the OP. I usually get very poor drops in UW / tombs etc. when I play necro or monk and better drops when I play ranger. But ranger just isn't as fun.

in most missions, my monk gets best drops then my ele and my ranger both put together. everytime i see its a gold (in chat message) its for me,
but UW loves my necro more then monks. im the one getting all the rares and purples AND i get the first ecto most of the time...so maby based on location?

Yeah. I would think monks would get the worse drops, since they tend to stay away from the fighting, and they dont really kill anyone unless if they arent smiting.
CorstedPirate
My drops are generally crappy whether I am on my monk or not. I rarely see a gold drop at all. When I do, they aren't very good. If there are good mods I can almost never get them to salvage. In 1120 hours of play I have only ever had 1 black dye drop. In the many ToPK runs I did I only ever had a total of 12 ectos drop most of which was for my Ranger not my Monk. I am scared to even try UW since it will mean the other person getting basically all of the decent drops. None of you people need to be talking to me about bad luck with drops. My luck is super crappy!
Felessan
I have my monk from the beginning (beta testing) and get the worst drops ever.
I had in my monk career a total of 10 gold drops (that over a period of two years or more...lost track of time when I first started).
What I can honestly say blue drops are huge. almost never get white... or gold or purple.... oh well I learned to live with it

Its just not strange, random is random (Yes, I have said this before). So, you could have 100 gold drops or zero, and there wouldn't be anything tstrange going on. Just crazy, insane luck.
NOTE---Do NOT mention this Psuedo-Random crap.

The ammount of gold drops depend on how many you have had before, my mate is a necro, he get loads of golds, but does not farm.
Drops depend on how many you've had before and if you got one from that area before: thats why when you go to a place like Grenth Footprint for the first time your more likely to get a green.

My monk got the most drops, or at least always among the high end share of the drops, when I played her through missions. I was convinced at the time that drops were influenced by overall damage done or damage prevented during play. I still believe it to be a major factor, but its obviously not the only way its determined since an idler does get drops assigned to them as well.
eternal pho
I noticed that if your party is out of your map range, drops seem favor you. This is an experiment that tried with my guildies. I sat for 30 mins doing nothing as my party kills all the mobs in fow. After a while in afk, 4 shards dropped for me in a row, but this could just be amazing luck. Btw does your chart include all chest drops? cuz I've already done " The Deep" a few times already and have never gotten a gold from mobs before. Never in my gameplay do I ever get many gold drops just from kills
Nvwa Strider
never saw so much golden drops for the entire team in the deep, even purples....
with great luck maybe 7 golden DROPS during the whole mission for the entire team.
5 Golden chests might help, thats allready 60 golds, but you need luck for that too.
I dont get much golds myself, but strangely i get a lot of greens and i mean a lot with my ranger.
I also think its based on activity. IF you heal, enchant, hex, take and deal dmg a lot its more likely that the drop will be yours. I have seen one guy taking all the golds in the mission while not even purples dropped for others.
Anyways, we can guess what we want, you wont find out until someone got the actual code.

Whoever believes this guy has clearly never played the deep before. No one gets 15 golds in a run, and golds do not drop with a 33% probability.

Or maybe the drop ratios are unbalanced in your party because some members have been to the deep more times than the others and are starting to trigger the anti-farm code. See here for a related discussion

Deacon Roswell
you will NEVER get the farming code if you complete quests even if you play the same area 1000 times in a row. READ the actual pop-up box that everyone refers to as the "farming code".
Someone said earlier you might have triggered the farming code from another area and brought it to the Deep. This is also BS. If you get the farming code, it affects your drops in the CURRENT area you are in. Once again, read the pop-up message and stop crying "farming code" just because you didn't get gold drops on every mission/quest.
