There is a bald spot with the long hair for male monk! I choose this so my monk will NOT be bald (not offense to bald people). It only occurs when you zoom out beyond a ceratin distance... but as most of the game require to zoom out it annoys me to no end.
I am sure this isn't that hard of a fix, please fix this Anet for all the monks out there and I promise I will buy Chapter 3!

There's lots of little graphical quirks like that. My necro's 15k Necrotic armor (dyed an olive green) takes on a reddish tint when zoomed out, and the green dye on her bone spiral wand turns gray. I don't think there's much that can be done about that sort of thing; they're just strange quirk caused by the combination of the game's engine and your personal hardware.

Could your monk come down with Alopecia areata? I hear topical steroid creams rubbed vigorously into the offending noggin work just fine.

Its weird though. I tried it on my other computer and the same thing happened. However, at the character selection screen when I zoom out, my monk has all his beautiful hair intact...

Zoom out to about where you normally play at, and use a black marker to fill in the gap on your screen. Problem solved.

lol funny little bug that, glad my Ranger is perfect.

Let I tell everyone, no point posting about it here, take that screenie and report the issue to A.net support and see if they are aware of it.

Hopefully it will get sorted.

So recreate the character? Lose all the time spent, items and armor for them? Skills on that character... just for hair.

Plus he already said he select the above hair style as the rest are bald and therefore there is no others to chose.

Read the post next time

lol nice one with the black marker : p

if i wear anything that covers the head entirely I wouldn't get the bonus with scalp design.
I doubt Anet will fix this... but just thought maybe they should be aware that tons of weird little graphic bug like this exists... of which, this one is espeically important!!

My female ranger also has a bald spot, on the very top of her head, and only when you zoom out at least a certain amount. It only happens with this hairstyle, and I am pretty sure it is not my graphics card, don't see how a graphics card could cause that.

LOL!

I've noticed several hairstyles that have this/similar problems...
  • The male ranger one with the black feathers has a little bald spot in the front when zoomed out enough
  • The male elementalist one with the "combover sideburns" has a bald spot in the back when zoomed out enough
  • The male mesmer has several styles where the hair on the backs of their heads (near their necks) turns invisible when viewed from the front

I doubt it will ever be fixed though, as in the end it is only a minor detail, and has no hinderance on gameplay.

I've heard that hair loss is due to poor blood circulation. Maybe if you use the /flex emote to do repeated hand stands that will stimulate hair growth.

I'm 36 and have a slightly receeding hair line. No big deal. Do I blame God for this?......maybe! Will God do anything if I bitch about it?......Hell no!

don't start combing your hair forward to cover the receding hairline, it looks terrible that way

Textures / Meshes have different qualities. As you zoom out as you pass these break points the textures seemlisly changes to a lesser version the Mesh/Textures to have the game run more efficiently and use up less resources. Because of such changes, hair will sometimes go "under" the scalp in certain sections, resulting in...... Appearance issues where it looks like you have a "bald" spot.

That is my guess, not like I know anything about graphic cards or anything.

There's unfortunately a good deal of these things. My 15k Virtuoso armour turns slightly green while zoomed out. My enchanter boots also turns slightly green when zoomed out. I think anet is in full power to fix these. If they just re-do the LOD textures which are bugged, then it's fixed. But it seems anet puts small graphical anomalies like this as lowest priority.

And of course, we also have the ton of clipping problems, but that would be a lot more difficult for anet to fix.
