20/20 Communing or Spawning?

Even though Spirits aren't spells, as proved by the fact Mesmers can't interrupt them with Power Spike, i keep hearing that 20/20 Communing affects them. Is this actually true?

What would you prefer, Communing or Spawning? Been as Ritual Lord does everything you could ever want with Recharge times.

well I have been running the rit lord build for a month or two and got a 20/20 rod (could be staff) (spawning) for BOC and it works like a charm.
I have another focus item (for another build) that reduces 20% casting time of skills but it does not work on rituals (although it is a skill). this is still bugged as far as I know.

Let me know when this bug is fixed

I've spirit spammed with 10/10's, and I've never had spirit recharge or cast time affected. While it's not a 20/20 Communing, I consider it analogous.

I'd probably use Spawning if I was using Spawning spells...?

Note: recharge and cast time items affect spells only.

For the 99999999999999999th time, it does NOT affect spirits.

For how long will people keep creating threads with this question in every GW forum i read?

gee, did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed this AM ?

newsfalsh, not everyone has played a rit all the way through, uts a valdi question. perhaps taking 10 seconds to answer it rather than two posts to cirticize would have been a better use of your time

in answer to the question ... heres my opinions as a new Rit...

Rit lord does what you need, but my curiousity was in regard to casting times, if the 20/20 weapons would aid in that ?

The 20/20 Spawning staff is a no-brainer, IMO. I just don't find myself using enough communing spells to make it outweigh the benefits to using Ritual Lord with the Spawning staff.

Communing casting and recharge doesn't affect binding rituals. I recommend using a 20/20 for spawning, for boon of creation, etc, of even better, using a +5 sword of enchanting, and a +5 armor and +health while enchanted offhand.

Most likely because you will be enchanted with Boon of Creation during the majority of your spirit summoning.

I use something similar when i play Ritual Lord in PvP. +5^50 20 recharge wand anda 2nd Staff with +5 and 20%.

As for playing with a rit all the way through... i have... i finally completed Raisu a few days ago and did Imperial. Only not before i ran myself to Droknars and did Hells Precipice. Problem is i've been using a 10-19 Bo Staff with no mods so i have absolutely no idea. I know they don't affect spirits, but according to someone who was telling me they wanted 20/20 Communing because they tested it and it affected spirits. The number of people who decided not to buy the Ritual Lord's Staff becuase they wanted Communing for spirits amazed me... So i thought i'd best check. Boon of Creation is god to a Spirit Spammer. And a Spirit Spammer is god to henchman in Iron Mines when they're not infused.

I just use +5 energy/+30hp Katanas and +30hp/20% +1 focus. That occasional higher level spirit is better than having chance of faster recharging BoC.

+5 energy sword with either +30 health or +5AL mod or 20% enchanting and a +5AL/+45 health while enchanted focus (assuming you are a Ritual Lord spirit spammer). Here are the reasons.
1) Fast cast does not improve the casting time of binding spirits because they are not spells.
2) +1 attribute does not improve the level of a binding spirit because they are not spells.
3) Fast recharge does not improve the recharge time of Ritual Lord (because it is capped).
4) You will most likely spell all your time spamming spirits so you won't need to attack targets directly. Even if you do, your attacks are fairly meaningless. Therefore, you suffer no penalty from using a sword/axe as a caster since you're not attacking anyways (and the requirements only affect how much damage you do). However, you benefits from the extra attributes. Try getting 2 mods (insightful for energy and your choice of fortitude, defensive, or enchanting on a different one-handed weapon) on any other caster 1-handed weapon. You can't.
5a) The health weapon mod is useful most of the time and therefore the most expensive.
5b) The defensive weapon mod is useful to lower most damage (except armor-ignoring and possibly a few others) but still a respectable mod if you find yourself in trouble (which you shouldn't if you position yourself properly considering the range of the spirits are quite large).
5c) The enchanting weapon mod is useful to increase the duration of Boon of Creation. Boon of Creation is your energy management and with it on, you'll probably never run out of energy. If you get it stripped, you're going to be in trouble energy-wise. Having it extend from 63 seconds to 76 seconds (assuming 16 spawning) saves you more energy. (And no, weapon skills are not enchantments.)
6) You should always be enchanted by Boon of Creation. Therefore, by using a +5AL/+45 health while enchanted offhand, you essentially get 2.5 mods (1 defensive and 1.5 fortitude). Again, it's the mods that you are going after and this combo maximizes the mods you are getting.
7) Again, to summarize, with this choice of weapons, you are getting 2 weapon attributes from your weapon and 2.5 weapon attributes from your offhand. 4.5 weapon attributes is much better than the normal 2 weapon attributes.

"+1 <attribute> (10-20% chance while using skills)"

Therefore, the +1 attribute DOES affect the level of a binding spirit, as a binding ritual is a skill.

I run the Ritaul Lord Staff due too I would rather have Boon of creation and ritual lord recharge faster since ritual lord recharges the spirits.
I could see how ever if you ran a supported weapon build where communing 20/20 might help out.
But that is my opinion.
