Im currently trying to solo ghial for his staff, i am a 55 monk using the skills protective sprit, healing breeze, zealots fire, SHIELD OF JUDGEMENT, mending, balthazaars spirit, rush, and sprint. I can get to Ghial flawlessly but when I get to him, I have trouble killing him. My 55 monk can tank pretty much all of his henchmen and even Ghial himself, but everytime he attacks me and gets down to about 60%-70% health he animates his flesh golem and uses taste of death. I was wondering if anyone can help me tweak my build. the skills that i can probably swap out are zealots fire and rush. I know there are some warrior ghial soloing but my monk is already here. Any suggestions please let me know.

Well I wasn't aware you could 55 him. I'm gonna have to try this with my mes when I get home. But as for your help, I suggest Not killing anybody until Ghial is dead. Or you could always bring an interrupt for either sword or axe as I assume thats your primary weapon.

Attributes so max earth magic, +4 mending and decent length PS.
Die once, switch to a -20 focus, then make your way to Ghial. Pull as much aggro as you can, using GoC to avoid interrupts on all spells (except PS, although I have had that interrupted a couple times). Put up Sliver Armor, he should be dead in one or two castings of it. As soon as he dies, switch to the -50 offhand so you dont die because of all the aggro you've pulled. Grab the drops, and either map back to Senjis or kill some more of the jade with sliver armor.
Yeah, I know there's no elite in my skill listing, but who needs elites anyway?

there are quite a few skills which may be usefull there, fast corpse control aside, necrotic traversal is good poison damage (works well on a VIM solo warrior), dont want to give him conditions(he doesnt use plague touch) blow em up with corpse explosion. OR even more fun, LET HIM GET A GOLEM (cough*veratasgaze*cough).

wow i like the idea of using sliver armor or veratas! i was able to solo him as a typical mo/me but dang it was slow! gonna have to try these out =)

Shout how it goes for you? Worked out a nice 2 man for it. 55 monk and a normal monk with spear of light and SoJ. Bit slow so added a 3rd Necro with SS. Kill everything on the way to him and get no drop from him but did get a perfect gold platinum blade for the Necro. Still jealous

Ok guys... before talking about sliver armor.. or veratas gaze... have you at least tried it?
I know I did, and it doesnt work. The sliver armor build doesnt work, because in between the massive damage and interrupts you have trouble maintaining your PS and HB. And even if u dont, you'll die from the degen ghial puts on you, because that degen cancels out your HB. I know that Watchful spirit is supposed to save your ass at this point, but it doesnt. Yeah, ok. It ends, you get healed, but after that, you can never live long enough to recast it, because those several seconds, is exactly how much time is needed for you to die from Ghial's degen.
Veratha's on the other hand... has a chance to work, but you have to sacrifice warror running skillz for it, which means you'll always have a huge aggro, and I doubt you'll be able to survive under such immense damage.
If someone can show me a screenie or a movie of your monk killing ghial, I'll believe you ,and I'll take my words back.

Not sure if you still care, but you can do it with a 55 Mo/W if you feel the need. It takes a while, but it can be done. The main thing is to interrupt his Animate Flesh Golem enough times that it gives all the corpses a chance to disappear. Once that's done, just keep throwing up SoJ until he dies. Only tough thing is that you have to plan ahead for getting interrupted if there are mesmers about. Though, as you can see, that didn't stop me.

In the pricecheck forums Ghial's Staff is reported to be going around 30k-40k. As for farming stuff outside of Senji's, there's Vermin which are a little tough but you just need to predict their use of Entangeling Asp (not that tough), and Jade Brotherhood... Neither of which I consider to have good enough drops to farm.

I've actually heard that you can pull his henchmen and kill them off before taking out Ghial, but I've never tried the farm run myself.

Two Points:
1) Die before hand - 13 HP can tank ALOT more than 55.
2) Glyph anything you NEED casted. Mainly Sliver Armor, and Healing Breeze if it is going to expire soon.
EDIT: to OP - if the problem is only him Taste of Deathing his Minion - you CAN just wait it out too - the bodies will either be all exploited or just disappear after a few minutes. Slower - but it works to kill him i guess.
