NVIDIA driver problems

Before I reformatted, I ran GW perfectly fine. No crashes, no restarts.

Now, after I recently reformatted, I installed the latest NVIDIA graphics driver (91.31) and tried playing. It worked fine I guess, until at random times the FPS would just drop and everything would be very very choppy. Unplayable choppy. This usually occurs when I switch maps (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't) or when I minimize GW and then maximize it later on.

It became really annoying, so I was reccommended to use the Omega Drivers. I then remembered that before I reformatted I had an omega driver installed. So I installed it (version 1.6693). When I started up GW, everything seemed more smoother, so I was content. It removed the sudden FPS drops but another problem came around. Each time I minimize the game, and try to maximize it, my computer would freeze up and cause a blue screen.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

(My FPS hovers around 20~30, normal for my system specs?)

Hmmm. I run the 91.31 drivers for my 5200 and I have no fps drops at all.
maybe going to default settings would help.
Just my opinion.

if you update video drivers ideally you should follow this procedure:
- uninstall the current video driver
- restart computer
- install new video driver
- restart computer
Please follow these steps if you have not done so.

I've reinstalled all patches, drivers and updates... still same problem. When I'm minimized and then maximize, my computer would just freeze up and blue screen or just restart.

Have you installed the lastest DirectX update? Goto the Microsoft webpage and search for DirectX to get it.

Have you gotten the latest 91.33 driver from nvidia? If you did, remember to uninstall the original drivers while in safe mode. Restart your pc + install 91.33. The problem should be taken care of. It did for me

I've found the 9x.xx series of drivers to be really horrible and full of bugs in most games (BSOD's Crashes etc) - try running the 85.96 ones available on guru3d, 23/6/2006 dated and I havent had any problems since.

With my old Geforce FX 5700 Ultra, I had no trouble with GuildWars and the new 9x driver but I found that it was running on the "Quadro" drivers 84.26

http://www.nvidia.com/page/partner_c...d_drivers.html

Aka the official last 84.21 driver (in the 8x line) was not MS WHQL certified for my card.. but nvidia not only included drivers for my FX card in the Quardo drivers.. they had them MS WHQL to boot.
