I was kind of curious as to what primary profession others thought was the weakest in Guild Wars. I know that there is no useless profession in GW and each class has it's own strength, but I want to know in general what primary class is thought of as being the least useful in most situations.
I personally would have to argue that the Assasin is the weakest link. I know they are a profession that is supposed to really shine in PvP like a mesmer, but after playing a R/A, I can't help but feel that the ranger can pull off the classes offensive abilities just as well while maintaining a much stronger defense as well as stronger and more reliable energy management with expertise.
All agreements/disagreements are welcome so long as it stays civil. I know there are a lot of people who love certain classes, but I don't want to see a flame war break out because of it.
Weakest Primary Profession?

Well I dont really consider them weak, just a matter of how you play them but in PvE terms I would have to say the Assassin and Mesmers. Mesmers although they have their advantages they seemed to be looked down upon in PvE like the Assasins. I honestly can't remember the last time I've done a mission that had a mesmer in it...

Anyone that thinks they can take down my Mesmer does so at thier own peril.
The worst thing you can do to a mesmer is to do nothing cause they can make just about everything else hurt !!!!!

I agree that mesmers are pretty weak in PvE, but I would still rate them as more effective than an assasin simply because they can play the role of a glass cannon from a much safer distance. However they like the assasin are still known for their strength in single target takedown which is generally looked down upon in PvE since most situations involve massive groups of enemies attacking at once.

I came to this thread with the intention to think of a weakest primary class and post how I thought it was the weakest.
I'm posting now because I can't. I truly believe each class can make a build to counter another class into, at the very least, a stalemate.

No profession is weaker than any other, it is the person at the keyboard that determines the stregnth of the character.

"I love all my kids the best." Bah.
In PvE I agree Assasin is weakest. I have seen a couple good assasins, and I've seen a LOT of bad assasins. As a healer primary I have to pay pretty close attention to all the other players and these guys just hang there on the front line trying to get their big combo in even if they're getting pounded on by 5 baddies. They need either an armor bump or quicker combos.
I agree that part of it is the player, and obviously someone that's been playing a Wammo for a year is going to be more familiar with those skills than their month-old Assasin. I just don't want to be on the front end of their learning curve. I used to have a lot of no-death pugs, but these guys are going down quicker than I can heal.
I'd never object to having ANY class in my group, but I'd prefer another Warrior over an Assasin.

This has been said before. There is no worst or best/strongest or weakest class
