They recently redid their site with a format less crowed and a bit similar to Guru's. They recently opened their own wiki competing with GuildWiki. They do NOT allow links or even references in threads to other forums.
What is it with them? I'm not a guru or online fanboy, I use both but find guru has a better atmosphere. But why are the admins like that over there? Why can't the two sites live in peace with cross references and linked wiki? Is is really needed to compete over forum members?
Why does GWOnline hate GWGuru so much???

Actually, that goes for all the boards I believe.
in guru, you aren't suppose to post other forum/site's link either.
While having all the fan site supporting gwiki would really help the new commers to find a jackpot of info.

In any case, I suspect this will be closed momentarily.

its competition plain and simple.
GWOnline doesn't like its toes to be stepped on.
I don't prefer gwonline over gwguru (ok well the forum wise yes) or vice versa.

Each administration team deals with its on boards in its own ways. I don't think I'd say GWO "hates" GWG, although I try not to speak for them because I simply don't know that much.
Competition may be too strong a word, as both sites try their best to provide the best resources and obtain the largest reading audience. In that I'd say it's a striving to improve ourselves rather than to beat the competition.
In either case, it's up to us how we run gwg, and up to them how they run GWO. And, ultimately, the forumgoer decides which format he or she likes best, or if he or she doesn't have a preference.
As an aside, we do have many links to GWO posts in our dev tracker forum One may confuse our dissuasion of posting players' names with posting links.
Since this is the GWG community, though, I'm going to recommend that this kind of discussion is best for beyond the forum. It would be simply unfair to accuse GWO of doing things if the staff there cannot properly voice their opinions, or defend their ideas and reasons.
