For some reason the Paragons remind me of warriors...

using verbal chants and shouts that can boost the fighting abilities of those nearbye

And Dervishes remind me of Assasins

capable of striking at multiple targets simultaneously with their wicked scythes. Of course, they're armed with a whirling, spinning attack that's perfect for when in the middle of a bunch of foes.

I wonder.....

I guess ANets getting lazy

Paragons do remind me of warriors, but that doesnt mean there going to have any skills that are close to a warriors. And I dont see how dervishes are like sins, Sins dont have many skills that can hit multiple targets, and if you think of it, a scythe would be able to.

Or you can look at anything crosseyed to pick it apart...

oh noes Paragons wield a spear! gasp, should we pull the Diablo 2's Amazon card and accuse them of taking that too? I mean really...

Just enjoy it and try not to suck the life out of everything.

Funny thing is, we'll probably see you in Ch3 reguardless.

dervish = holy warrrior = w/mo
paragon = ranger attacks (throwing spears) and shouts (warrior) = r/w

The community did the same thing with Factions, saying that Sins and Rits were just like two other core classes combined with little differences and we all know, after we played with them, that we were wrong.

Why are we commiting the same mistake again?

Assassins had their "Assassins Only Skills", the combos, Ritualists have the Binding Rituals(Wich are VERY different from Nature Rituals from Rangers), Weapon Spells and Ashes Spells. I DOUBT that Paragons and Dervishes won't have their own unique set of skills, btw Dervishes can turn into living Gods how this can be compared to Wammos? Since when Warriors have enough Shouts to rely on then to aid the party on the battlefiled? Just because they are ranged attackers then they are "Ranger slash something"? As far as I remember Warriors are the only core class that the main attack is melee, and the Assassin is the second melee fighter from Factions. So, i think Monks, Necros, Mesmers, Eles and Rits are all some kind of "Ranger slash something" class? But now i remember that Rangers have Shout too, so Paragons will be Ranger clones, not "Ranger slash something" clones.

I think you guys should stop complaining about the news classes, they are original, much more than Sins and Rits, and much more than every class of the other MMOs out there. Let's play with them before we say that they are pure crap, shall we?

And after all, they needed to do something about those useless granite slabs. =D

I suppose the paragon will be able to boost "others", so not much like a warrior at all. Wars only have a couple of skills that assist the party. The paragon sounds quite cool actually - not so sure about the dervish.

Also - it looks like the dervish are going to have rubbish armor. Relying on spells to protect you with all the strip enchants and interrupts does not sound easy.

It's just like with any new class - especially melee. All the Leeroy's are going to try them out and won't understand how to play them initially. Since they're melee they'll be aggroing everything in sight and dying repeatedly. Then after a while they'll figure out how to play the class and all is well.

It's like the Assassin class - I've played with more bad sins than good, but I know a few players who can do wonders with the sin and make a good part of a full PVE team. As far as PVP - no clue.

I totally agree on this one, my guild consists of purely PvE lovers and they were not keen on the Ritualist and the Assassin in the beginning of factions. After a few weeks (or months) my guildleader went to get FoW armor for a Ritualist and 1 of my guild is still trying to get FoW armor for her Assassin. We should not go ahead of ourselves and start complaining about the new classes before we've even seen what they might be capable of. I personally like the looks of the Dervish very much. I'll be sure to take him through the game just to see what he can do.

Who said they would be enchantments?
Ever try to remove a Weapon Spell from a Warrior that a Ritualist has cast? Want to know why you can't?

That's not fishy... This seems well thought for pleasing everyone.

The dervish seems to be just what Wa/mo Pve players waited. Sort of warrior who can fight multiple foes at one time... A dream for missions like vizuna square ...

I see the parangon more for PvP players. This is the character the team leader should take because he must have a global vision of the fight to know what shout to use at the right time = a PvP team leader's job.

But I think the dervish will be useful in HA, where AoE damage are always welcome and the parangon will be useful in PvE because, if well played, all classes are useful in PvE (even the sin and the mesmer).

Guys, the games not even out yet! Can we wait til then to start complaining?! And to all of you saying that the dervish was like an assassin, HOW? Last time I checked, an assassin couldn't strike multiple targets or turn into a god. Just my two cents.

Leaders in PvP arena's calls are going to consist more of 'Get the Paragon first' instead of our current favorite 'Get the Monk first'. A P/Mo should be an excellent class for PvPers and PvEers. I would see the Dervisher paired with a sin instead of a warrior, but not sure if that would be secondary or primary. Cant wait fr Friday to try them out, and I think they will be very orginal classes which will be able to fill roles which seemed designed for them. Maybe the designers went, What roles are needed filling in an eight player party which the current classes cannot fill? I think this is the perfect way to design classes and maybe, if they used it, we will see good orginal professions coming out in chp 4 aswell.

People should stop complaining about the concepts. Most of the preliminary ideas come from fansites.

This thread is nearly identical to the one earlier this year, where people got their first glimpse at the assassin and started whining about them being "exactly like rangers."

Bring on the new classes, they are just fodder to my elementalist whos been around since beta. I plan on taking my same character through chapter 3. I'm more interested in what these classes can do as secondaries to help my age old ele. With assassins I got to teleport in with starburst, and ritualists gave me some really fun weapon skills to boost my earth magic line. I wonder now maybe E/De, or E/Pa will be able to do something for me

theres no need to complain,Anet is simply expanding to what most people want, take a look:
monk, warrior, necro, ele, mesmer are pretty basic.
ranger is ranger +beastmaster(depending on what game you know best)
assassin is a nonthieving rogue
ritualist is a dark priest/summoner(ditto on which name you're more familiar with)
dervish=paladin/priest
paragon=bardic type

All they're doing is switching around some names and going with some themed characters to keep things interesting, to keep us from being bored by seeing nothing but the core classes running around. If they keep this up its gonna be totally cool to see what they come obscure stuff they start coming out with.

After 3-4 chapters the game will have DotA flavour - many classes to chose from. It will really be cool Not just differnt builds of same classes but different builds from different classes!
