In some cases one might call their character a "pet".
I can't stop people from from being sick and doing wrong things. A game isn't meant to be taken seriously and anything when looked at the wrong way just as you did can be considered wrong or bad.
Please don't drag the thread down just because you see it as sick when really this is just an innocent idea. I don't think anyone else even remotely thought about that until you posted it and if they did they have bigger problems anyway.

Minipets aren't sex-slaves and they won't do stuff to you that your mother would frown upon - they simply follow you around.
Why does any male make a female character? Because it's nice to look at. Do you complain that characters should be locked to the gender of the player IRL? Eying up women is bad, no?
Also, you HAVE to wear armor now, because wearing underwear in public is revealing and offensive.

That's without dealing with the whole "people as property" aspect of mini-pets, but since Rurik, Shiro, the Necrid Horseman, the Kirin, and the Charr Shaman are all arguably as sentient as Gwen and therefore should not be dealt with as property either, I don't think that would apply.
