Mixing of Dye?

If I mix two seperate dyes (I'm talking about mixing before applying to armor) would that change all of my vials of dye or just one at a time? I have 6 orange and 6 silver but am worried that I'll ruin 'em all if I try this unless I know for sure that I'll just get one and one mixing together instead of all 6 of each...

The 2 individual dyes will combine into 1 mixed dye. The other dyes will remain unchanged.

Which begs the next question... is there a way to actually SPLIT anything up in this game?

Well, I know when you are trading and when you are outside a town dropping items it will ask you how many if the item is a stack. So, you could go outside of town, drop all but 1 of each dye, then mix the dyes.
