Impossible?

I was in RA today to get some faction and take a break from PVE and I was annoying the monk of the other team. While attacking him I noticed that he was a Mo/Me but was suing Monk, Mesmer, and Necromancer skills. I was like hmm maybe i'm seeing things, but then it was happening more often and then, he used two elites! I was and still am really confused. The screenshots are below. The only eddting that i did was putting the 3 together and blacking out the name. I also left the first and last letter showing just to prove its the same guy.
has anyone else seen this or know how its done? is it a bug, exploit, am i seeing things?

I believe there is a mesmer skill that allows you to steal the skill/elite from another player, can't remember the name. He stole the life transfer from another player.
Edit: steal probably not the best word. The skill gets replaced with a copy of that players elite skill for x amount of time.
Arcane Mimicry

Arcane Mimicry
Shyft the Pyro
The first thing that pops into my head is Arcane Mimicry, so that the monk could borrow a Life Transfer off a friendly necro. Conversely, Arcane Thievery and Arcane Larceny both steal spells from enemies, so if there was a necro on your team the monk was shutting the necro down with those skills and throwing the stolen skills around to stay alive.
Zinger314
Inspired/Revealed Hex is the more likely explination.

I was thinking the same but there was no necro on my team for sure and i don't there was one on his. Also don't you usually see if the player used arcane mimicry? because i didn't see him use it either so I'm still confused

Today, I've seen a R/E with Meteor Shower and a W/E spamming Flare.
The event is drawing some really, really bad players into the RAs.

Maybe he took it from a secondary necro on your team? Skills like Life Transfer and Wither are popular choices for 2nd profession skill in degen builds. Anyway, if that Mo/Me thinks he can spare the time and energy to cast it, you're not putting enough pressure on the guy.
Cyan The Archer
But it could be you just seeing things

Hah this thread made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Now I know how people feel when I remove Life Transfer with my Inspired Hex on my monk, and cast it back on someone.

Like some others have already said, its Inspired Hex/Revealed Hex.

There is a 99% chance that it is:
Inspired Hex - Spell
Remove a Hex from target ally and gain 3-13 Energy. For 20 seconds, Inspired Hex is replaced by the Hex that was removed.
I run it on my boon/prot monk if I decide to drop my res sig for hex removal. The nice little energy boost also comes in handy. However, I don't usually use the hex that I stole on other people because it defeats the purpose of stealing energy in the first place if I turn around and use up that energy.

Quantum Duck
I do this all the time in Arena. If my Mo/Me is against a Necro and the enemy team isn't doing enough damage to be a threat, I'll Inspired Hex their Life Transfer and throw it back at the the necro with 0 spec just for the fun of it. I did this twice earlier today.
Hollerith
Works well with Backfire too. If the enemy doesn't notice they have a lvl 0 Backfire on them, they may not cast for 10 seconds.
Seef II
Yeah I do that all the time in aspenwood with ihex... err, ihax.
LouAl
the monk *could* have used any number of mesmer spells
Arcane Theivery, Arcane Larceny, Arcane Mimicry, Inspired hex (most likely, as stated above), Revealed Hex (same as inspired)
Really wasteful though because your life transfer will only do -3 and +3 health for 6 seconds @ 10e...not really worth it

Inspired hex is a staple of boon monks, and that Mo/Me was using 1 of 2 elites always used by boon Mo/Mes. My l33t detective skills tell me it was inspired/revealed

Arcane Thievery and Arcane Larceny "steal" an opponent's spell (randomly) for up to 30 seconds. He most likely used mimicry on his necro ally.
Dr Strangelove
yup, definitely inspired hex. Picked up a life transfer with it and probably had some energy to burn, and figured why not throw a little pain back at the necro?
An added bonus of doing that is that it scares the bejeezus out of some necros, even though the monk is most likely castig it at level 0. A well timed hex thrown back at the necro with something clever thrown into all chat can shut them down better than blackout.

Poison Ivy
Aye, conclusion.
LoKi Foxfire
Already been said but Inspired Hex. :]
I love using that on my Boon Prot and just confusing people. :3

Heheh, you can get 6 elite skills on your bar at once in snakes dance with a N/mo:
I had:
Aura of the Lich
Signet of Judgement
Blood is Power
Peace and Harmony
Spiteful Spirit
Spell Breaker
Ahhh.... was sad when I zoned.... >.<

it's inspired yeah...but he's an idiot if he uses the removed hex. It counts as being used from 0 attrib and is simply a waste of energy.

Obviously you haven't played much PvP...
There's a dozen ways he could have done, see the above posts.

A boon prot with e-drain in RA isn't going to be carrying anything except Inpired or Revealed. While there are many possibilities, the only ones that aren't far fetched are these two skills.
