is it normal to have GW taking 350mb+ ram out of 1GB on a laptop,
is there way to reduce its resources?, i mean this ram hungerness causes me to go into deep lagg for 3-4 mins, and it really sux, when people rely on you
and ya all graphical options are low.

any kind of suggestions would help,
thanx

I'm not sure if that is a lot, but GW does take a lot of RAM. Try turning off everything in your system tray that you don't need. Also get RamBooster. It is free.

350 is way too much.. when I run GW it doesn't even come close to that number

GW lag a lot when i play it with my Laptop...which already has 1.5GB ram and geforce 6400 graphic card tho....i dunno what is the problem.
the only thing i am sure is that, GW runs smoothly in my desktop which has less ram (768 MB) but better graphic card (Geforce 6800, something like that)....so i think its the matter of graphic card.

Not necessarily true, considering that you can't see how much memory GW takes full-screen, and its usage decreases if you minimize or ALT-TAB it. I sometimes play windowed and if I pull up Task Manager it is using over 250MB. I can minimize the game and it'll drop down to 50 or so, but that's only because it's semi-idle.

Running at a lower resolution may help lower RAM usage. Even though the video card does the rendering, all the pixels in the screen have to be processed and sent to the video card, and that happens in main memory. Also, you didn't state which video chipset your laptop has. Does it have its own memory, or is it shared memory? If, say, you're running 128MB shared, then your laptop really only has 896MB effective memory. And shared memory is MUCH slower than dedicated video memory, which means even more performance degradation.

Not true. I have 1GB ram and GW uses 350 MB. All the textures have to go some where and in the page file would greatly increase the load times.

If you are having lag issues add -perf to the shortcut. So it reads "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -perf

Watch the bytes per second and the frames. Let me know what kind of results you see.
