What ever happened to the Fansite Fridays? Was anything ever said about them stopping? The recent news about the fansite evaluations reminded me of the various fansites I was linked to every friday for reading an interview.

Most sites besides Guru and GWOnline are relatively insignificant. Just a blunt fact.

Fansite fridays stopped because all they did was rehash the same info time and time again for questions which were of no use to the wider community. It tended to be the "Can we have this feature" then "insert PR answer which means no or yes its been in 6 months and ive answered this 10x already).

ArenaNet isnt big on sharing the info we want, so I doubt youll see anything like it come again untill they change their information policy.

With respect to PvE, you'd be entirely correct.

yeah gwg and gwo are considered the main pve grounds
gh, iqsomething and others I forget are the pvp gatherings

edit: How to see what type of fansite it is:

PVEsite: everybody complains about nerfs
PVPsite: everybody complains about UAS/UAX

I'll ask again about starting them up. There is a cycle to development, and a period when we are pretty much in a silent mode. But at this point, we may be getting close to the time when we're more able to talk about various aspects of Nightfall. So do be confident that I'll ask, and I'm more than willing -- delighted, in fact -- to kick-start the series, if I get the "All clear" on that.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks for answering

I know before I came to Guru for information, I would always read the interviews to see what was going on or being asked. I believe a majority of players check the main GuildWars site for information rather than the community ones(at least I did before I looked into them further). Also it was nice to see the different styles of the numerous fan sites out there.

They really need to work on Wallpaper Wednesdays again too! You miss a whole bunch of days and I always change my desktop to the latest wallpaper.

I agree! I love our Wallpaper Wednesdays, and I believe that we will soon be able to start those up again with tasty Nightfall art!

It's tough to get on the fansite list. Especially if you don't have forums, news, or...uh, well-behaved comic characters representing the GW classes.

Oops.

I take offense to that. I've spent almost 200 hours coding my fan site and it got listed with the recent update

Yes! I totally agree with this one, I have always looked forward to Wallpaper Wednesdays to provide me a new desktop. I've been on the dragon festival one for multiple weeks now.

Don't be offended! Your site is excellent, and we're delighted to have a site on what is, as far as we know, a brand new continent for Guild Wars fansites! You're serving an exceptionally passionate community of gamers there, and we're really pleased to have you on board!

Comic characters that, even if mischievous, stay within the bounds of the Terms of Use are more than welcome. Comic sites will be listed, if they apply and if they meet the requirements of a Listed site. If this applies, then I'd encourage you to write us: [email protected].

I had emailed my fansite info during the week before the PvE Factions Preview, and did not receive a response. I will apply again ASAP.
