i've been wondering how they named nightfall how did it get it's name? from what part of the game? example
prophecies: flame seeker prophecies
factions: kurzick/luxon factions

maybe nightfall got it's name by it going night and dark on the continent?

They looked at how other games were named and copy-edited the name.

Wait untill the game comes out and you will probably find out.

Maybe nightfalls as in dark comes as in evil comes and pillages the land and you, once again, have to "bring light" to the land by destroying the evil that is there so then the "night" is no longer "falling"?

Thats just my thoughts on it.

I think they came up with the name because of events in the game had something to do with different times of the day. I'm gonna have to dig up that article.

Well, look at the previous events (mainly what happened to ToPK and the dragon festival quests).

The enemies you fight pop up out of dark rifts which im sure has a lot to do with the title. I'm 100% sure that Nightfall will be about explaining and resolving this little darkness invasion.

i think it would be cool if the whole game took place at night. i think this might be the case because of where it is based (Northern Africa) where there is the sahara where many only travel at night.

I think that Elona is going to be invaded by the Darkness, from the Tomb of Primeval Kings and the Dragon Festival.

The Guy added during the festival mentioned that the Darkness came from Elona, he knew because he was a Zaishen, one of the guild that fights them in ToPK.

Also, when the Grasps attacked the monastery, there was a silent figure that stood out of the way of the fight. It was a Necrid Horseman, only it was a ghost, and it was called "The Fury." This was never explained.

ToPK is most likely an Elonian tomb, seeing as most of the kings (all of them) are wearing the same armor as the Elonian ghost, and it is in the desert.

Chapter 3 is made by the same team that made Prophecies, and thus the same people who originally created the Darkness.

The Grasps that attacked Shing Jea during the festival had an updated look compared to the old grasps, more spiky and sleek than the old ones, hinting at a greater use for them.

So, if the Darkness is from Elona, Elona is where Chapter 3 takes place, Chapter 3 is being made by the same people who made the Darkness.....

I think that adequately suits the title of "Nightfall"

A war with the Darkness?

Anet should watch it. That's coming dangerously close to WotC copyrighted material (Eberron specifical)

I'm thinking as knightfall rather then night fall for my answer
maybe the kingdom is in dissarray because their leader has been killed along with all the guards[knights and such]... and AN is trying to hide how the story will be by using night rather then knight since it's pronounced the same

And the mysterious figure is [drumroll] Prince "The Fury" Rurik!

I've seen a tiny comment on a magazine about NightFall making reference to "luscious jungles" and "monks riding lizards" mobs.

Hmm, sonds like Dwarves riding giant moles, and frozen wasteland. At least i think they were Giant Moles, enslaved Dirge. Anyway, Nightfall might just be the name because it sounds cool.

NO. The name of the game always reflects what's in it, or the story. Prophecies was the name of the story, hence "Flame Seeker Prophecies". Though they didn't use the name Prophecies on the box because it was a debut and simply Guild Wars sounded better. The second time, they did. Factions was about the warring factions in the game, the Luxies and Kurzicks. NightFall will have something to do with night or darkness. Hence the name NightFall.

Maybe it's like Movie Pitch Black and there's monsters everywhere when a solar eclipse happens. And you have to kill them at night or they destroy the kingdom. It might be an extended ecslipse lets say for 1 week or so.

The Name Nightfall was prob made in ref to the following:

http://www.candlelightstories.com/ArabianPage.asp

and i would assume we would be seening contents with references or a mix or Eyptian, Arabian and persian influences.

as for night day cycles or darkness thingies....i wont bet money on it.
