Another question for all of you. how many chpters do you think A-Net will make before tehy end the series. It has been there most succesful game to date, so the franchise probably wont end soon, but how many new chapters for Guild Wars 1 do you think there will be? This isnt a question about the possibility of a direct sequel.

I dunno, its easy to see that each release is culture-oriented. Prophecies being European, Factions being Asian, and, according to rumors, Nightfall will be African themed. So, i'm not sure how many variations can be derived from this, but I can assure you, Anet will have plenty designs for upcoming chapters.

ANet would probably make a few more chapters until like year 2009 - 2010.

I think there'll be a time when they stop and make new ones. I mean computer technology is developing so quickly i dont know much games will last so long.

I'll go so far as too say it will greatly depend on Nightfall. If it's as short and sad in the PvE dept as Factions is, I wont buy chapter 4... and I've seen more than a few others say they wont even buy Nightfall till they see how much PvE content it has... so I am going to imagine it will depend on the content in the game so the game sells itself vs Anet having to add features as content to sell in the long run.
You see the same comments all over the multiple forums and in game; players are more than wary of purchasing Nightfall thanks to Factions... and the PvPers are feeling forced to buy it to stay competitive. So the actual in game content is lacking and hurting the franchise already.
And as all businesses go, if their product doesn't sell well, it closes.
We'll see though, Nightfall is made by the people that made Prophesies so I have hopes for it.

since they can (and have already) upgrade the game engine on the fly by simply streaming the new build in that shouldnt be a major concern for some time

Um, I'm sure I read somewhere that they wanted to do 10 games. I think it was when PC Zone (UK) previewed it.

Most likely, they will develope and new line. Everquest to Everquest 2. That sort of deal, brings the brith of Guild Wars 2 and it's chapters..

Check your facts.
Final Fantasy 7 is the most successful game to date, with the most total sales of merchandise and the quickest selling rate upon release.
To answer your qoestion, they are working on chapter 4 right now. There's also a chance they've started preparing for chapter 5.

He's referring to the games that ArenaNet have developed.

I'm guessing there'll be about 6 or 8 Guild Wars chapters.
