Starting an Ele in Cantha
majeh456
Should I start an ele in Cantha?? Since I don't really play as ele's, would it be better for me to start in Cantha or in Tyria? Also, what should I do in the beginning and so on? I have never really played as an ele before, so what secondary class is recomended?

For general pve the best secondary is monk regardless of primary.
As for the start region... I'd say start it in Cantha, but... BUT definately go back to Tyria and get all the skills. The reason is that it is much easier and faster to levelup in Cantha. So you can get to lvl20 and then go after perfecting your skills.

I see... Even though an ele isn't as strong as a Warrior *puts up flame shield*, I must try it.
Any particular reason why Mo would be a top choice in PvE?

That's right *smacks head*...it's been a long, long time since I have played Guild Wars...
Thanks.

The ritualist class also has both of those.

Personally i wouldn't even start an ele in cantha. Start a Tyrian born, they have better face and hairstyles to choose from. You can jump ship to cantha once you get to la.

And, once in Cantha, I found that if you play a Aeromancer the entire time for the most part, yes, the entire time, you'll do preety well because the AI is far better then in Tyria and you can take down enemies far more quickly being Aeromancer and targeting just one thing.

Starting your Ele in Canthan is not a bad idea, though be ready for a steep learning curve. Ele is not a class that you just pick up and play, you have to learn how to support your team well. Tyria has a few skills which will help you a lot so crossing over to LA to get them is a good idea. Though you can play through Factions without them.
2nd Prof relies on the kind of build that you will be running. Personally I didn't need the Monk skills since I normally use my Ele skills to fill my bar. I have experimented with Monk to use the Heal Party/Other spam which does help the party but if you have 2 good monks it is better to focus on your primary role, killing the enemy. Mesmer is nice for getting Arcane Echo for when you are playing a nuker, but also give you some nice degen additions for your build. Hitting a warrior with burden, empathy and nightmare is rather fun
To start off though, try Monk. You can start expanding your skill base when you have reached Senji's which will show you just how much more there is to playing an ele

i can sumarise this in to 2 diffrent sections.
if u want a large pool of skills to chose from go start on tryia.
if u want better armour start in cantha.
my choice,
start in tryia then jump ship at la.
i much prefer the story line in tryia.
put some of the things in factions are just better.
and its a real pin going throught the dessert.

OMG - do my eyes deceive me?
You favour Aeromancer?
I thought it must just have been me - I get flamed continually for it! Even get kicked off teams cause people don't seem to like Aeromancers.... Makes me sad...

lol I pref, aeromancer too, but I'm a pratical person, I play with fire against the plants and against the ice too
Earth for wards and some really spiffy AoE.
But when the element doesn't really matter, air ftw!

So I just started my ele off in Cantha. I'm level 9 and have Mo as my secondary. Any ideas as to what elements I should be using?
Digital Starlight
Fire or Earth. Fire for obvious reasons, and Earth for Wards.
majeh456
Ok, are there any good spell combos worth mentioning?
Digital Starlight
I would name some good skills to use in general, but my Ele is in Tyria and I don't know which skills go where.
Pick Me
At your current level, no. There are no good combo spells worth mentioning.
Once you get to the Mainland, go north to Kaineng Center. Get the find Mhenlo Quest so you can go to Lion's Arch. Then, travel north west to Ascolon Settlement. Buy Meteor Shower.
I understand there is a Signet of Capture quest on the Mainland. Don't do it. Get the Signet of Capture Quest from Lion's Arch. Someone told me that you only get 1 Signet of Capture from the Mainland for free. You should do the Stone Tablet quest first from LA, then you get the Signet of Capture quest. Do this quest, and you get 2 free signets. But you can only do 1 quest or the other, so you can't get 3 sigs for free.
