I was thinking about aspenwood today while on my PvP only character and i realized I couldn't do it with her so i'd have to switch to my warrior or my ranger. I was really dissapointed in this and wondered why PvP only chars can't access Aspenwood or Jade quarry since its basically PvP. I'd really love to see access for this granted would anyone else? Also sorry if this was posted already i couldn't find it in search.

Yea this was brought up before. It's basically one of the missions where PvE is attempted at merging with PvP. The players that enjoy both PvE and PvP seem to love these missions as do the players that like PvP mainly. Most players that prefer only PvE are usually (note usually) not too fond of them. I think that's why they are almost always empty... besides the various other issues...
Originally I was against PvP only players having access to these. Now that I've played them a few times, and didn't really care for them, I would actually like to see the maps and locales completely moved from the game map onto Battle Isle and replaced with some actual content; say real missions or the like...

Anyway, opinions aside, I think Anet is pretty much done with Factions. So I don't see any big changes coming. PvE still hasn't seen the alternate access put in for the elite missions and favor still locks out other areas and quests of the game. So game changing mechanics aside, I don't see Anet allowing PvP only having access to these missions. Maybe, but I don't see it.

Excellent points by OP, I've often wondered those same things myself. It certainly would help fix the always-dead population of Jade Quarry and sometimes-dead population of Aspenwood.

/signed for letting PVP characters play in the PVP missions like Jade Quarry and Aspenwood

The question is would it end up like AB with touch ranger teams ?More expierenced players know about snares, and interuptions, but you have to watch out for the little guy that doesn't exactly think about that first.

I would like to see pvp character access to these instances.. and they're already full of touch rangers and minion factories.

its not worth getting a pve character pvp ready just to do these.

i was bummed today when i got to jade and it was a ghost town... i wanted to try it out but there was only 3 people in the (only) district --and i thought Tyria was getting thin with players...

Sure, why not.

While ANET is at it, giving PvPs a way to access such areas that isin't from their Guild Hall would be cool too. Because I have a few currently Guildless friends that can only use their PvEs in ABs, and also Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry. It's not really an issue for the fairly hardcore PvPers who have PvEs for the roles they usualy play, but I can imagine that the "Casual PvPer" suffers, since they need to PvE to unlock the content, and PvE alot to actualy get optimal gear.

It is fine as it is. If you want to play it then get a PvE character there. Fort Aspenwood isnt real PvP. It is a PvE version of PvP designed to attract PvE players to PvP. PvP characters have access to real PvP, while Aspenwood is the PvE version of PvP where PvE characters have access. It is not real PvP so PvP characters have no reason to be there.

No. That would give non-Factions players access to it, when its is Factions-only content. It would also ruin the whole border line idea as the outcome of the battle can have influence on the war. It would also break some of the PvE quests.

This alone explains why it's almost completely empty in these zones.

Not at all. Anet can easily add an NPC similar in how they added one for materials storage. Talk to the NPC and he/she allows you to the staging area if you have Factions. Don't have Factions, the NPC tells you to go away... These very NPCs are already in play in all outposts and towns in Cantha; they just screen players who are in specific guilds/alliances rather than whether you have Factions or not. Not much different.
Break the quests? Again, just replace those with different ones.

Logan, <strike>Fort Aspenwood</strike> Jade Quarry is not anything --there is nobody there... not even pve people can play it.

You are avoiding the main problem and that is interest.

Edit: sry i used the wrong name...

Theres plenty of people in Fort Aspenwood so I dont know where you got that idea. The only place that there isnt people at is the Jade Quarry.
