Continent name

What do you think the name for the nightfall world will be?Mabey a dark and mysterious name......

Elona.. (Is that the right way to spell it?) I'm pretty sure they stated it already.

Elona is the spelling.

YOu know them because of the Elonians that visited the Crystal Desert (Elona Reach...)

For those unfamiliar with real-world geography, North Africa=Egypt=Desert.

I have a feeling that there will also be some jungle rainforest and open plains as seen in other parts of Africa, just because an entire desert continent would be excessively boring.

Looks like we're heading to the land of the people that failed and we wasted our time fixing their mistakes (Crystal Desert). So now we're going to their land this time and we still are helping them fix their mistakes (Chapter 3). o_O

If Cantha is south of Tyria, will Elona Be north maybe?.. or will it be further south?... hmmmm

As for the setting of Elona, I doubt it will be all desert. First of all, North Africa/Middle east is not all desert, there are fertile zones, flood plains, oases and whatnot. It IS the area where civilization began (at least the civilizations that directly influenced western civ), and that's for a reason. Besides, a game with only one or two environments would get visually boring quick.

Tyria has pre-searing and post searing ascalon; shiverpeaks; kryta; maguuma; the crystal desert; the ring of fire. That's seven environments, plus some variation within each. Factions has Shing Jea; Kaineng; Echovald; and the Jade Sea. Another four distinct environments (with internal variations, too). It's not a wild guess to say that Nightfall will have at least four different environments.

Ah, and I suspect Elona would be southeast of Tyria, based on the position of the Crystal Desert (to which Elonians fled), possibly on the same landmass. Still north of Cantha, tho (or maybe east).

Ascalon = America
Cantha = China (or Cathay)

So by this logic, Nightfall is based on Persia, maybe something like Parenthia or something like that

Is it? I always thought it was more like medieval europe, since, you know. there were no knights and castles and whatnot in medieval America (well, there were the mesoamerican civilizations, but nothing in Prophecies resembles that)

It'll probably have some themes reminiscent of middle-eastern culture, yes. If you're talking about the name, however, how does Persia or... Parenthia (wth?), resemble Elona?

Ascalon = America
Kryta = Korea
Orr = Europe

Hmm, Elona? Aren't the people in Elona long dead? "Parenthia" is just a wild guess on my part, but I just realized that anything with the word "Parent" in it is probably not gonna fly

Its quite easy to tell cantha is to the south becuase theres no where to go north of lions arch the sea is cut out by land so the boats go south(i think it says on the guildwars calendar in the game manual the canthans vist the tyrians to the north)

and elona should be south east of tyria since they went to the crystal desert it can't be just east or they would of visited ascalon.

I always thought that Prophecies was a map that contained the common environments that you would find in any RPG game. If Prophecies were only one environment, then noone would have bought chapter two...
