Is it just me who goes on looks?

for me it is a combo of style and functionality.

I was going to get 15k hydro for my ele but I realize the highest damage comes from fire (obviously) and that earth damage hurts the most when it ignores armor not when someone earthquakes you.

Stats first, looks second. The Factions armor system has been a great boon to all my characters - having the stats I want with the looks I want. Win.

I buy 15k armor for looks really... usually buying a set for show and storing it and using a combination of 1.5k armor otherwise.

I don't feel 15k is better then 1.5k and in some cases 1.5k can look better. Just my opinion.

lol i mispelled there i meant at least 1000 plat= 1 mil gold... not milion plat rofl...
but its not a big deal... and i do have 2 account not 3 and i do need extra 6 slots for storage of perfect weapons and mods... if ppl would sell all they keep on their storage accounts u would see that req 8 15>50 crystallines arent that rare and serpent and dwarven axes are just a little rarer than summit axes... i know at least 10 ppl that have perfects of each... so... they arent that rare just in too high demand they rarely get out to market... it proven theory u can farm 100 ectos in a week even now... not to talk about 1 year ago... so amount of cash some ppl have is mindblowing to most... i personally have nowhere to put cash any more i must do all my trades in ectos and shards or buy them to have space for cash... 1 year ago u could make 200plats a day with a little straight thinking.... multiplay that with a full month and thats just by farming 4 hours a day, i have a friend who did it sometimes 12-13 hours a day when a game first came out... so u can imagine his stacks of ectos on each char... not to mention the first bugged out items there were... like no penalty weapons or 3 mod shields... they are all still out there... only anet knows real stats and they arent sharing coz u could loose all apeal for high prices weapons and mods if u find out how common they are and economy would go to hell in a day... not that it already isnt gone bad, we have fake rare material trader prices etc... all dictated by anet and not the market as they say.... u know when u buy lots of parchment of merchant the price goes up, go sell any amount of vellum, 50-100 to trader, it will go down in price...for 8-10% if u sell ectos to merchant or buy them 50-100 nothing will change... fake all fake, ectos go up or down 500gp... not 1gp or 10gp, 500.... its fake not supply and demand but as some bob in anet wants it....

But yeah the way of making gold when GW first came out was nice and decently fast. I got bored w/ farming and now i am broke haha. I just hope the new armor doesnt look better then what i have now or else ill have farm more! Damn anet for making awsome armor!!!!!

Seriously though, the only thing i spend money on these days is just for cool looking armor. I have awsome weapons, awsome guild with everything. Only thing left is just new armor. Thankfully i'm not fond of the FoW armor so i dont have to spend time getting ectos and shards haha. Don't get me wrong they look awsome but they just are not for me.

Many people buy FoW armor because it's so 1337!
But to look good, it'll take your own creative mind to do so.

Ex.

1. Assassin Shing Jea 1.5k armor dyed in black. This is more ninja looking than FoW armor dye in black. I mean...cmon...why does Assassin's armor have so much blade on it anyway, not like it's gonna use them all! Shing Jea armor only have 2 daggers on the body part and another 2 on the foot.

2. Female mesmer cathan 15k, dyed in purple/blue mix. Equip with celestial weapon set. Look, "it's a dragon flying in the purple sky".

I'm a W/Mo and I hope that I'm one of those that isnt all arrogant =). I bought Luxon 15k armor because I prefered the look to the 1.5k. The 1.5k version does not cover the shins nor the upper arms which looks stupid and it has more cloth covering instead of armor. I also would like to say that on ALL of my characters I ALWAYS go on looks instead of performance. Most of the time I find a way for both though.

I go for functionality first, then upgrade for looks.

Perfect Example, soon as I got off the starting island for factions, I need max armor for my sin.. and I have a ton of chitn compared to other components so 1.5k "exotic" I went. Now the 15k Cantha armor looks good (after beating shirow) but I need gold to bring my other characters the new faction skills so I will be using exotic for a time so upgrade for sin may be some time off.

My ele on the other hand (pre-factions release) 1.5k of each armor type then started to upgrade to the 15k versions because they looked cooler.

What i find nice about the new armor is that one style has EVERY attribute type so they go hand in hand now where back when the game was just prophecies it was get it for the attributes, the looks were just a perk.

I have 4 characters with 15k dyed black....

But for weapons and offhands... collectors or crafters all the way, baby!

I was in Ascalon City last year when this guy kept on pming me and telling me my Monk how 5exy she looked and never stopped like how is 5exy today or you really are 5exy etc etc he just wouldn't stop even after me telling him so he just kept saying 5exy to me about my Monk.I don't know but maybe a pixcellated char. turned him on.He even pmed me when I was in pre working on my Warrior and kept say how is 5exy today he just kept doing this finally I had to but his name on ignore and never heard back from him since.He played male Monk as well.

You should have told him you were a guy.

Looks for me!

I tried for long to find something nice looking for a female necro.
I do not fancy the spiky metal and leather fetish look, neither do the bare skin fish netting thing appeal to me. That rules out most of the necro outfits on the market.

I finally set for collector top (the high collar makes me feel like a queen), 15k cultist skirt (I prefer long skirts, and to me the 15k variant looks a bit better than the 1.5k). Boots were hard. Most necro boots look like clumsy working boots. The only "shoelike" I could find was the FoW ones, so I got a pair of those now.
