This debate on advanced areas of the game has been going on since the beginning and while Arenanet has tried different methods it's still not working well. I think we can all agree the way that the elite areas in both campaigns are accessed is flawed. But I think I have a solution, why not make elite areas accessible to characters based on titles?

I'm going to use the current content we have as an example. How about making Access to FoW available if your character has the Protector of Tyria (or Cantha) title? Perhaps UW can be unlocked if your character has all the quests completed. Think of the benefits:

*No more dead towns! People will be going through all the towns constantly with their characters trying to complete missions and quests for unlocking the elite areas.

* Better pickup groups! With the way elite areas are accessed now far too many novices can access them. This would also stop people from running through the game considerably just to access the elite areas.

* No pointless grinding! In Factions access to elite areas was based on how much faction your alliance could farm. Doing this doesn't teach you how to play the game. Doing missions and quests to earn your elite areas will not only make you a better team player, but will also make you more knowledgeable on the lore. Also, you won't have to worry about how many people are in your guild/alliance to access the best places.

* And the most obvious benefit, no more PvP favor! Everybody has an equal chance of gaining access to these areas regardless of what region of the world they live in. No more bitterness directed towards PVP players because you can't access the areas you want in PvE.

I think it's a pretty good idea, what do you all think? Sign it if you think this is a better approach. If not, explain why.

especially i agree with dead town suggestion... now there waay to many dead towns/outposts especialy late missions which is realy annoying.

Since i am PvE player i realy dont want to depend on PvPers when can enter FoW / UW.

Doing missions and quests to earn your elite areas will not only make you a better team player...
...it will also grant you the title "Friend of the Henchies".

Your idea is good in a way but... I don't think there are too many newbies in "elite" missions/areas. Yes there are newbies, as everywhere. But the newbies in ToA are generally not those who run through the whole game to get there. Why? Because they don't know about UW/FoW, because they don't know such places exists untill they randomly arrive in ToA. Newbies (players training their first character) wanna beat the game, complete the missions, first.

Concerning the quests: I'd like to have a title based on the number of quests you have completed (or maybe a second tier for Protector based on that - tier 1 : complete all the bonuses, tier 2 : complete all the quests) but at the moment it doesn't exist so ANET should have to implant this 1st to make it a requirement to have access to the "elite" areas.

However, I agree with you: the current system is not flawless, and I would like something else in the 3rd campaign. But ANET wil probably never change the flavour system. And I think there may be another way to do that, rather than basing the access on completing all the quests or bonuses. Don't ask me what, I don't know. Hopefully, someone (or ANET) will come with THE perfect system.

So, despite the fact that I agree with several statements of yours, I think your idea is not the best, so I'm not going to sign, sorry.

Not too keen on the Title Suggestion relating to FoW/UW access as being Ascended is enough, although there should be something other than completing just 1 mission for Canthans as Tyrians have to complete 3 and face the dopple or can "cheat" by going to Cantha.

Agree with the issue over Favor 100%, it's a stupid idea and shouldnt interfere with PvE areas IMO

Theres also the issue of nerfs being introduced for PvP balance which completley knackers PvE builds as well but I wont go into that.

I disagree with opening up FoW/UW, since HA play is a major component of GW. I would like to see the different access to Urgoz/Deep that we've been waiting for months to see. Faction farming is a complete failure and one of the most boring styles of play.

If access was granted for Protector of Tyria/Cantha - that would work.

I've lost all incentive and motivation to even finish Hells Precipice(sp?). This would get me off my a** and maybe keep the mission area's more populated.

but if you are having trouble getting through some of the mission for the lack of a PUG, you should try to get a few guildmates to help ya...

I agree with this. This would definitely help relieve some of the frustration caused by a "lack of endgame activity" PvE-Wise. I totally think this is within the power of A.net to start working on.

I want to make clear that I'm only using FoW, UW, Deep, Urgoz as an example because I don't know what the new elite areas in the next expansion will be. I wanted to use something people can relate to. I think such a feature should be implemented in Nightfall first to see what the general community response is. If people think this is the definite way to go then maybe alter the previous elite areas. I think it's a safe bet that Nightfall will have a couple elite areas (be it God areas or Elite Missions).

If the majority do agree this is a better way of granting access altering the previous areas would be easy. Accessing ToA isn't relevant to the storyline or progressing through the game so that town could actually be gated off at the entrance. Let's say Access to ToA was granted by having Both Missions and Quests in Tyria Completed, the only problem this would arise is how to complete "The Lost Princess" and "The False Gods" quests. Simply have Npc's Salma and Brother Mizar standing outside the entrance of ToA. Perhaps you would even speak to one of them to gain access to ToA once you met the requirements.

Zin Ku Corridor would take a slightly different approach. Since it would be illogical to remove access to the entire town, just have the statue section of the town gated off. There's even a gate there already, so all they would have to do is move the door down to seal it off. In the spirit of house Zu Heltzer and Cavalon you would just talk to somebody near the gate to teleport you to the other side once you met the Canthan requirements.

I know it's unlikely that Anet would change the favor system and I know more pvers would appreciate this idea but perhaps PVPer's would gain a different benefit relevant to the PVP aspect of the game for holding Halls. This way everyone is happy.

Who knows? Maybe a similar feature could be implemented in PVP too. Like more fiercer arenas that would require a certain level of "Gladiator" title.

@OP - I think that your proposed system would work..I really hate the timed bonuses in GW:Factions though..meh, still good though.

I can't say I like this..Gladiator points don't come *that* easy to everyone, and I think you'd have trouble filling the districts with these requirements anyway. That, and how would you make it more fierce anyway? Just having the title requirement makes it another version of TA, so you might have to increase the # of people in a group, or include other goals other than slaughter the opposing team. (This needs its own thread for real discussion anyway)

How about an auto-ferry? you know, the ruling alliance stipulates a price (Anet would provide a maximum and minimum), and players would be able to get ferried by NPCs at the gate by paying that price (kind of like the God offering in the ToA).

A portion of that price would go to the alliance's coffers (such a thing would have to be implemented, of course), and the rest would be dissipated, as a moneysink to keep the economy running. Alternatively, money paid would be all dissipated, but the ruling alliance would get some other sort of bonus, just for bragging rights.

This way, people who like to faction farm would still have an incentive to do so, while other players would have easy access to the elite missions without having to spam LF Ferry around.

A little suggestion:
Perhaps people with "Friends of Luxon/Kurzick" titles will be able to gain Elite mission access by talking to an NPC

Solar_Takfar: I see what your saying. Say Anet finally implemented Guild Hall storage for everyone in the guild, and all the proceeds from the access fee NPC went into the the Leading guild's storage. The downfall to this is even if the entrance fee is something minimal like 25 Gold your now encouraging Faction Farming big time.

Misa: Fantastic idea! Why didn't I think of that . However, I think that if this was incorporated the NPC should ferry these people directly into the elite mission, bypassing the fireworks and reduced price vendor... this way people would still have incentive in owning towns. Perhaps if people got the highest title they would be allowed to access those NPCS in any town. This way people would have some real incentive to keep gaining faction.

Guy's, keep signing the petition and please add more ideas like this.... hopefully someone from Anet will read it and implement these great suggestions!

I do think there is a problem with the dead towns/outposts and agree with you there, but I think the Favor of the Gods system works well, otherwise everyone would be constantly farming UW/FoW and there would be even more dead towns/outposts, or Anet would end up nerfing it or something. I know Europe has favor most of the time, and when we lose it all you hear from people in ToA is "UHHH When will we get favor back" or "I'll just sit here and sell my ectos and shards till we get it back".

I do think its a good system, but also not totally fair to those from places like Korea because they very rarely get the favor

Hopefully we will see something great come out of Nightfall. Fingers crossed
