I want to point out the things we players ASKED for in one manner or another to prove the point A.Net still listens.
• Customizable Heroes (party NPCs) that level up with the player, follow player instructions in combat, and use armor, weapons, and skills of the player’s choice.
-(BIG REQUEST, We wanted customizable hench and combat orders.)
• A new game type, Hero vs. Hero Battles will allow a single player to participate in PvP with hero NPCs.
-(A small variation on the request for a 1v1 arena.)
• Two new professions: The Dervish, a scythe-wielding holy warrior and The Paragon, the guardian angels of the Elonian people.
-(The Dervish weilds a 2 handed weapon, we've been requesting a 2h melee weapon class of some format.)
• 4 new guild halls.
-(We've been requesting some new guild halls.)
• 300 new skills.
• 250 Quests, 55 explorable areas, 20 new Story Missions, and three new Challenge Missions.
-(55 explorable areas? That sounds like a big improvement to PvE that we've asked for, but real judgement here should be reserved till we see everything.)
• Peerless online RPG action with no monthly fees!
-(Never to much of this good thing.)
Overall, in one way or another, everything here has been asked for by the player base. A.net still listens.
P.S. I think everyone's misunderstanding the NPCs leveling up with the character, they may mean that if you do a high level, end game quest out of a newbie area, when you go outside the henches have their levels adjusted accordingly.
For example, boosting hench levels to lvl 20 when doing Defend North Kryta Province out of Lion's arch or any other town.

Two things:
Customizable henchies- great, but.....
I thought the concept of crappy henchies promoted coop play. Granted, sometimes it has been hard getting players together, especially good ones, to do quests/missions/etc. I suppose this means that we'll be keeping henchies around for a lot longer. So, when you are looking for a group, will you be accepting the player and their "manslave"?
Second, anyone catch the update on www.guildwars.com. New skill groups for each of the new classes:
Paragon Attributes
Spear Mastery (PRIMARY ATTRIBUTE)
Spear Mastery increases the damage you do with spears and your chance to inflict a critical hit when using a spear. Many skills, especially spear attack skills, become more effective with higher Spear Mastery.
Command
No inherent effect. Many Paragon skills, especially those that protect your allies or increase your tactical position on the battlefield, become more effective with higher Command.
Motivation
No inherent effect. Many Paragon skills, especially those related to Energy management or that inspire your allies, become more effective with higher Motivation.
Leadership
You gain 1 Energy for each ally affected by one of your Shouts or Chants (maximum 1 Energy for every 3 ranks).
Dervish Attributes
Mysticism (PRIMARY ATTRIBUTE)
Whenever an Enchantment ends, you gain 3 Health for each rank of Mysticism and 1 Energy for every 2 ranks of Mysticism.
Scythe Mastery
Scythe Mastery increases the damage you do with scythes and your chance to inflict a critical hit when using a scythe. Many skills, especially scythe attack skills, become more effective with higher Scythe Mastery.
Wind Prayers
No inherent effect. Many Dervish Spells, especially those dealing with movement or cold damage, become more effective with higher Wind Prayers.
Earth Prayers
No inherent effect. Many Dervish Spells, especially those dealing with defense or Earth damage, become more effective with higher Earth Prayers.
All in all, I think it looks like a winner.

People can not learn to act like people, rather the shielding of the internet promotes people acting like fools (and from a long time MMOer, that's saying something about the behavior lately in GW). So, PuGs are not an option any more for some. I refuse to PuG anymore. They are not worth the headache. That leaves me with henchies, friends and guildies.
Second, as more chapters come out more areas will become emptier as the player base thins out. Not possible to stop, it happens in every online game. Also add in the fact that if Anet releases another chapter geared towards PvP like Factions (those are Gaile's words, not mine) many may skip it, like me (unless it costs about $25). Henchies will be needed to pick up where the players are not at.

I laughed pretty hard at the pokemon picture.
But then I thought about it.
If ANet can pull it off right, it would be real fun creating a henchman team.
And who knows, maybe there'll be an arena-type area where we can watch our henchman battle it out in an arena against another person's henchman.
That would be loads of fun.

These 2 new classes are certainly jumpstarting my imagination. I can't wait to try them out. I hope my PvE characters will be able to try out the new stuff this weekend. My rit needs a better secondary.

What are Alliance Battles all about if not PvP??? PvP's got as much as anyone with Factions, you have to PvP to control the towns and all the new armour and weapons, skills and two new class types can be used by PvP characters too. |
How is allience battles "all about PvP"?

Aside of that, i find that this chapter will be particularly thrilling! Too bad my parents wont permit me to buy it err.

Did EB remove that page? None of the links here are working, and I looked on their site under all the Pre-releases and Coming Soons, Nightfall isn't there....

1v1 arenas, I really, really hope they include those

I hope Nightfall includes some incentives for Rangers to go back to the bow. If I see another Thumper or Touchie, I'm going to SCREAM. Cheap abuse of an attribute ftw!

i remember reading sometime somewhere on guru here, in an interview with the gw head guy, that thier design teams work in 6month intervals. point being that thats proble why nightfall seems more like prophecies. same design team.
sounds good to me,, i started playing this game to revert back to the nastalgic childish feeling of fantasy land, that gets shamed away by our impending swing into the real world where we have to work for a living. now that adulthood hasnt been all its cracked up to be i want to go back.
(picassobitches)
but i never really needed ninjas, although the ritualist i like.

Any reliable info whether Sins and Rits will get AT LEAST new armor designs (sexy egyptian/baggy arabic styles) in Nightfall??? If people cant get new Sin/Rit specific skills in Nightfall, Anet should at least give the Sin/Rit guys something to strive for.... Like new weps/armor...

I hope that when I'm lazy and just grabbing six random henchies, I don't have to customize them. Sometimes, I really want that Dom Mesmer to have Backfire.... and sometimes I don't care, he's there because I need one more warm body for the Wurm to beat on while we kill it.

Pure speculation here and maybe just hopeful thinking:
I see each player character getting a "AI friend" (for lack of a better term in this discription), maybe up to 3 AI friends. As the the player goes through the story they level up with the character and generally tag along growing as the players grow. In other words, rather than having to customize them constantly or each time you zone out, these friends are "attached" somehow and stay with you.
Once further into the game and more henchies are available then the usual crew of Devona/Aiden/Mhenlo are available to fill up the spots.
I also see the possibility of smaller groups of players grouping and bringing their AI friends to make a full team.
I also hope this "feature" carries backwards through other chapters so the new AI friends can travel with you to different chapters.
Where do I get this idea? Well, it's pure 100% speculation but it makes since in my mind. This kind of change requires a good deal of storage space on the servers and would help to explain the option of Material Storage we just got instead of a real storage update. It would also make the pets getting DP make more since as pets will be considered as part of the team now as the AI friends can level with the players, and throwing the pets into that same fold would make since... to me anyway.
Thoughts?

I don't know... I hope it's not restricted to just one or a couple "sidekicks", I hope I can go out with a full suite of 7 customized henchmen.
