For at least 2 days now, the rune traders have been empty of sup abs runes, showing last bought at 800 but quote only 25 for them.

Anyone know what is going on there?

People are anticipating that the damage reduction will be switched from -3 damage versus physical to -3 damage versus all attacks in the near future.

I have no idea why this expectation is out there, but I'm pretty sure that people are speculating and trying to take advantage of a potential blip.

One of my alliance mates GAVE me one because she couldn't sell it at trader. I'm gonna try selling it tonight, and I'll give her some of the profit just because I'm feeling generous.

To rise in price it has to be getting bought, so if none are there to buy...It can't rise in price.

my spectulation is that anet want to permanently remove sup abs rune... so traders no long sell them, but will buy them (ie, acting as a sink)

and monsters no longer drop sub abs rune (need to check), so eventually, all abs rune will be wiped from the game

again, just spectulating... why do they want to do this?! not entirely sure...

Ummmm....I highly doubt Arena Net would try to remove something like a rune....I bet it's just a unexpected glitch from an update or something.

Also, if they DID remove sup abs runes, they would probably also do it to the major and mino abs runes...

I had heard that it was because if you put one on each armor that there is a bug that makes u almost ivnici....I tried it with a pvp char and didnt seem to make a difference...but this is what someone told me who was trying to sell them for 10k or something like that...

That's not true. Runes, no matter the type, do not stack. One sup absorption rune is no better than five.

I would say people are stocking up on them because they perceive the price will rise in the future. They were 80K and over last year; anything's possible, right?

Ppl have been buying new armor pices after the armor change last week and have bought all the sup abs, as more sup abs are farmed and droped the will returne to trader, at the moment they are sold to other players insted of the rune trader thats why you don't see change in price.

Because it's "Stackable" with Knights and Ascalon armor's damage reduction.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I think I know why they're sold out! Since the armor update, lots of people got it into their heads that Absorbtion runes aren't global (but they are). The result of this is that these people bought up all the runes to put on their armor where ever they could. Basically, you've got a bunch of people running around with 1 sup. attribute rune, a sup. vigor rune, and 3 sup absorbtion runes on their armor!!!

(Or it's just a bug. But I like my theory better

Since the armor nerf, lots of people are changing armor and bought new superiors to put on the new armor. Also, since it came down in price from 90K or so down to 2K lots of people started to buy them for their warriors characters that had major absorbs on them before. Also, with chapter 3 coming out I'm sure a lot were buying them in anticipation of prices going up, just like materials.

and dont forget for a moment that the increased drop rate that brought them dowm from 100k to 4k has not been changed.

there is a spike in demand from all those armor changers and an additional spike from people seeing the price go up and grabbing every one they can thinking

*OMG IM GONNA GET RICH*

when the armor is fitted out the supply will catch up and suddenly people with big stocks of superiors will panic sell as the price drops.

A nice sounding theory, but in order to hold water, it would require you to explain why none of the other runes have been similarly affected, no?

No explanation necessary. None of the other runes have been changed besides absorption. The same update that nerfed absorption also changed knight's and ascalon armor to only be local, so warriors with absorption on their single knight's/ascalon piece(like mine)must now outfit new armor with Sup. Abs.

you guys are laughing with triple absorb rune warriors... Wait until a 5-super absorb warrior kicks you out of the group because you're a "n00b who uses a superiour -75hp rune"

As far as I'm concerned 95% of all warriors are basically 5-super absorb rune morons.

Anyways, look around, in places like hells precipice, 75% of all players are warriors trying to find a group. Warrior used to be one of the most popular professions until assassins came in.
All those warriors either knew about the knightsbug or they didn't. Still, all those warriors must have had a super or major absorb.

All those warriors then learned about the update and figured they could upgrade their armourset (upgrade: read: get a more efficient one).
So with all those warriors salvaging, deleting, crafting new armours, the amount of absorbs bought peeked and the runetrader is out of stock.

Still it might be a bug or something..

i just got one offa drop yesterday and sold to merchant right away
wasnt paying attention, and got a lousy 25g
not to mention i didnt even know they were out of stock/bugged/ or w/e it is

Don't sell runes to the Merchant! (Unless it's still in it's armor & you can get more for it that way than you can for the salvaged rune at the Rune Trader.)
