Ok, first off, I don't use Intel anymore so I'm a little rusty with their stuff (AMD all the way baby!...er sorry). Are they both the same socket type? If one is 478 and the other is LAG 775, then you need to use the one that matches the socket type of your motherboard. And I would go with the Celeron because, well, it's newer, is nearly a GHz faster, and the bus speed is a bit faster too (533 MHz comapred to the older Pentium's 400 MHz).

you wont be able to do much else whilst playing gw unless you have a dual core processor, and especially not with those 2, well not anything that will require a lot of processing power as even with gw minimized it is still running your cpu at 100%.
The p4 should be the quicker chip but it wont really be noticeable.

Celeron's have a smaller L2 cache, which will impact performance more than the FSB.

At least in my expierence

Well a 1.8 Pentium and a 1.8 Celeron do have different L2 cache sizes. The Pentium has a 256K L2 and the Celeron has a 128K L2, but the 2.7 Celeron has 256Kb as well. So go with the Celeron if you aren't actually going to go out and buy new components.

Don't know what you mean. I run single core, albeit an AMD, and I can quite happily minimize Guild Wars and play around in Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver 8 at the same time as FTP'ing to my website.
