Hi all

I've been looking at guild wars and it looks good. Its definatly a game I want to give a go. Whuch one should I get though? "Normal" guild wars (presumably chapter 1) or Guild wars factions?

Any particular reasons for the choice?

welcome.

get the original chapter 1 as it gets you off to a much better start

Factions chapter 2 simply throws you into the deep end assuming you already know what you are doing.

i still spend most of my tine in chapter 1 as i enjoy that more.

also some very nice skills are available in chapter 1 only as well

Ok, chapter one it is. Heres a slightly different question (avoids starting a new thread). What character is good for starting out? I'm going to be a necro as I love them (summoning, cursing, sucking life from stuff, dealing with the dead, does it get better? I don't think so) but what to combine him with?

I agree with everything Loviatar said. I feel Chapter 1 is far better. I still enjoy spending most of my time in chapter 1. You can also PvP with either Chapter you just won't be able to do Alliance Battles and with all the touch rangers in there, you aren't really missing out on anything (The preview was better).
My vote would go to Chapter 1 as well.

Ok, theres no reason for me not to buy a 2nd hand copy is there? (Eg accounts aren't linked to serial numbers are they?) I could save some money buying off ebay I think

Ok u should purchase Chapter one because of the reason that it explains the game more.I dont have factions but ive heard that on factions u lvl up wayyy faster but i still say to get chapter one first so u know the basics.Cause u can endup going into factions looking like a complete noob. But i say that the first guild wars will be best to get.

It's against GW's EULA to buy an account from anyone other than a retail store (buy a new copy), Buying one on E-bay is flirting with disaster.

A good Secondary profession for a Necro is Monk. Necro/Mesmer is also a good combo.

DONT DO IT AS THE KEYS ARE ONE TIME ONE USE TO SET UP THE ACCOUNT.

MANY POSTS HERE FROM PEOPLE WHO LOST ACCOUNTS WHEN THE ORIGINAL BUYER SIMPLY HAD ANET RECLAIM THE ACCOUNT FOR THEM AS HAVING BEEN STOLEN.

I play Necro/Mesmer or Necro/Monk (same necro, she just gets to flip back and forth sometimes). It depends on what role I want to fill. You can't go wrong with either one.

You should buy Chapter 1.Its much better than factions. The only problem is that sometimes you may have problem o find party for some missions and quests that u cant complete them with hench because most people play Chapter 2.

Factions seems to be more based with PvP, as it introduces alliance battles.

Prophecies is more PvE based, as it has much more and longer missions.
Both Prophecies and Factions comes with basic pvp and pve though, although factions is more player v player based, and prophecies player v enemy based
(basically storyline and stuff)
